This was just a random thought of mine. Most cars can attain maximum speeds of 180mph, but maximum speed limits are usually 60-65 mph. If cars could me made to drive lower speeds, will the roads be safer?

  1. No, because we have the need to be better, faster, stronger. People will always find ways to make the cars faster regardless of the laws.

I've no longer have that desire to go as fast as I can, but still bend the speed limit laws occasionally

Even Germany's Autobahn has speed limits, but they go as fast as they want (just don't wreck).

  2. I wouldn't know why. Mabye becasuse they can.......? Sorry not much help to you.

  3. You can always take them on the local legal drag strip and run 1/4 miles or a local track.

  4. Get your facts straight, your question proves that you know very little about automobiles.  There are over 96 manufacturers of automobiles in the world, with dozen or more models from each one.  Not to mention a lot of specialty car manufacturers which would mean that there's over 1200 different models per year.  VERY FEW of these cars can go 180mph.....period.  Only a hand full can even approach this speed.

For people like you that are concerned about going over the speed limit, you can buy after market devices that you could limit your top speed to 20 - 65mph.  MSD has a ignition system that can set maximum rpm's to 2 or 3000rpm.  This would ensure that your car would be slow enough for girlyman driving ability.   Search on the Internet for" MSD6A" for this system.

  5. For sales and money, gotta make that buck at any cost.

  6. A lot of cars are foreign made, for instance in Germany you have the autobon where you can go as fast as you want.

Consumers like fast cars, so everyone else has to keep up with the competitors and make fast cars as well so their cars will also be bought.
