I always wonder about that kind of stuff, whether or not it interferes with Darwin. I mean no one wants kids to poison themselves, but maybe there'd be less dumb people around if they had? Sorry does that sound mean?

  1. Yes I would still be alive.  I was a smart child.  I didn't think your statement about dumb people was offensive at all.  Quite comical yet maybe true.  I guess we intellectuals will never know if there would be less dumb people due to illiteracy leading to fatal overdoses.

  2. You know that thing on the plug of a hair dryer that shuts it off when the dryer falls in water, so you don't get electrocuted.

I remember when that all came down. The government gave the industry several years to invent that, but in the end they all begged for more time because the device would add about $20 to the price, and they wanted something cheaper.

Then one company suddenly announced it had the device, it would only add $5, so the industry went with it.

They say that device, which consumers pay tens of millions of dollars for each year, saves 7 lives/year.

  3. Yes--I was smart enough to keep out of the medicine bottles.  And we got by for a long time without them.

  4. They did not exist when I was a child-guess Darwin was on my side?
