Question:

If coal and oil are ancient dead stuff, why do we put our water in toxic plastic bottles.?

Plastics are the product of distilling/refining oils and coal. So we are drinking bottled water from containers made from dead stuff. This cannot be good then?

And our water pipes are made from rigid PVC (Polyvinylchloride) which leaches dioxins into the water supply- This means we are making the same mistake as the Romans did with Lead pipes.

  1. Because it reduces the chances of giving birth, thereby having less people to feed & consume those precious resources so the rest of us can live.  Everything has a downside & a purpose in life.  Plastics are here to stay.  What should we do, go back to baskets soaked in tree sap?

  2. Everything you consume for nourishment comes from dead stuff.  Meat is dead animals, and vegetables are dead plants.  Most of our homes are made from dead wood.  Most shoes and belts are made from dead animal skins.  Alcoholic beverages are made from dead, decaying plant plants.  As you stated most of our energy needs and plastics come from really old decayed plants and animals.

Using dead stuff in our dailly lives has been part of humanity since the beginning.  Animal hides and other animal parts have been used for food, fuel, shelter, clothing, carrying water and food, making music, etc.

The almost untracable levels of dioxin found in bottled water or leeched from PVC pipes is a minor inconvenience to the benifits we get from having clean water that is uncontaminated by harmful microbes that could cause dysintary, parasitic infestations, or other illness.  You will receive more dioxins from eating a single fish than you will get from drinking water all year.

The top ten contributors to the dioxin in our environment are:

    - Backyard burning of refuse (33%)

    - Medical waste incineration (25)

    - Municipal waste inceration (5%)

    - Wastewater treatment (5%)

    - Coal fired boilers (4%)

    - Hazardous waste burning kilns (4%)

    - Diesel Trucks (4%)

    - Magnesium Production (3%)

    - Wood Burning (3%)

    - Aluminum Smelting (2%)

Dioxin is not readily soluable in water, but it is soluble in fat.  This causes it to accumulate in animal fat.

  3. In reality we have enough resources to support a thousand times our current population in as good a life style as the average American available right over our heads in the moons and asteroids of the solar system. The myth that our resources are limited comes from a book called the Limits to Growth from the billionaires club of the world called the club of Rome. This book was written assuming the false precept that humanity has already located and is using all of the resources that it will ever have. These people have a religious fear of space and that if we go into space we might draw the attention of some other race already out there that is badder than we are. It is there intention to confine humanity to the surface of this one planet and never allow us to go out into the universe to build the new frontier and use the resources lying only a few miles above our heads.

We can reduce pollution and economize on resources by mining the moon, the asteroid belt and the moos of other planets. Need Methane (Natural gas) the moon Titan has more than humanity could use in a million years. Need water, there is more water ice in orbit around the planet Saturn than 100 earth’s. The only thing holding the world back from a bright and prosperous future is the groveling religious fear that those who are promoting the AGW fraud have of space, mentally all of them belong back in the caves where they do not have to look at the stars and experience that fear that clouds their minds every time they look up at night.

  4. political plastic is a large commoditie

  5. The purpose is to kill you!!!

Plastic bottles contain the toxin: Bisphenol A (BPA) which leeches into the water and causes a multitude of sicknesses and ailments.

One solution to this is to buy water in glass bottles.  However, I live in Chicago and recently the mayor proposed that all bottled water be prevented from being sold in stores and restaurants.  If that happens then we will be forced to get water from the tap--loaded with toxic flouride and chlorine and who knows what else.  But you should cross over to becoming a conspiracy theorist like me and you will see the light.  They want to get you sick!

  6. Plastics are a cheap resource, and there is still a lot of money in it within the industy. Plastics have been related to problems such as cancer, but that is why you should not reuse the plastic water bottle from the store over and over. Buy a sigg water bottle or a clean canteen water bottle for repeated use, and when it comes to your drinking water at home, just use a water filter to take care of anything.

  7. I prefer the tar soaked laminated paper sewage pipes that disintegrate and have to be replaced every 10-20 years don't you. Or maybe we could go back to those lead pipes you brought up that were still in use even in California shortly after the Gold Rush of 1849. I even like the thought of modern copper with the old lead solder. When you think of something less expensive and less poisonous, please feel free to patent and market it. 'til then I think we may just be stuck with plastics and polymers for a while.
