If colour doesn't matter why....?

Why are there black schools, black music awards, black music TV and 'positive' descrimination?

And why are whites not allowed white schools and white music awards?

Why do people say colour doesn't matter when really it does?

Why does it have to matter? why can't we all just be humans with no discrimination?

before you attack me I am not white.

  1. I really don't know how to approach your question but I will point out that there are schools that are majority white. The Academy Awards and Oscars have a lot of white faces (some blacks but majority white). I guess blacks feel the need to say, "Hey, look at us. We have accomplishments, too." Race really shouldn't matter but to some people it still does. Racism does exist even today. There are still negative generalizations placed on black people and whites as well. As far as the black schools, the Historically Black Colleges/Universities were formed at a time when there was racial segregation. Blacks were not allowed to go to white schools so black schools were formed for black people. I guess the next question would be "why haven't these kinds been discontinued?" Again, I don't know.

There should be no discrimination. But as long as there are people who see color instead of character we will have these issues.

  2. it's just the way things are

we like to think our society has advanced from racism/non discrimination of color but really we've just reshaped it

as long as people have free will, it'll never go away

    it's sad but true

  3. Here here! Amen

  4. Because of past history with slavery etc, it annoys me that if a white person attacks a black person it is a race crime, but if a black person atatcks a white person it isn't. People are so scared that they will insult other races that they try and make everything seem right, but there is always that tension between races. I think it is ridiculous. England allows foreigners into out country, and they blow up buses and train stations, why can't we all just get along and adapt to every one elses beliefs? I'd like to walk down the street without being scared of a black person in a hoodie, because that is what is posted all over the internet and news ,I am not a racist and have black nieces and a brother in law, but I'd just like to have piece of mind that when I got out I won't get caught up in some race crime, or insult someone else by wearing an england top or something. And white people can be victims too! Why can't people accept this or find it harder to accept?

  5. black people don't have there own schools it just that there are different areas in the world/country so there may not be white in one area obviously the people in that area are black and still go to school if kind of understand. and you get white music awards and white music tv sometimes you get half and half. and white people do have there schools its just that if you see a black person in that school it just means that they want to push themselves forward rather than backwards.

  6. WOW UR SO COOL I TOTALLY AGREE WHY IS COLOUR AN ISSUE!!! But I guess that some ppl like to feel part of a group, maybe thats why we have back only awards etc. If we had white only awards could u imgine the uproar? still, it dosent personally offend me, I guess they want to be proud of the heritage.

  7. Some people aren't very open minded to see that we are all just humans!

  8. Historically the whites in the U.S. were not treated as poorly and marginalized the way blacks have been. Sometimes you have to go to a place of celebration and promotion, before we can all come back to center and be considered equal by all.

  9. Funny it is. I have often pondered that meself.

    Life sometimes makes little sense.

  10. As far as the no white races having special stuff (BET etc.) it's kind of a pa back for years of slavery. Granted it's time to just let that go, as most races mix pretty well these days (older generations that hold onto the racism not counted of course). I just don't think people are willing to let it go.

In all honesty it's kind of good that we have the stuff set up your were talking about. There is still racism and there are still people around that would seriously discriminate against someone's skin color. These things help the minority races get a foot hold, it's up to them to push on from there.
