If either Obama or McCain dropped out, who would run in their place?

Say anything happened, and either party lost their candidate, of the candidates who ran earlier in the year, and those candidates only, who would you have to run and why? I know the Dems will say Hillary, but what about the Republicans? I am Republican and I say Ron Paul, because he is for less government.

Didn't Huckabee stay in the race forever until he beat Romney's total?  I lost respect for Huckabee when he did that.  Romney had way more class.

They would probably pick Romney, the number two guy. Ron Paul is really a constitutionalist.

Someone else from the ILLUMINATI.  Politics is a smokescreen, it's is fake for us to have to take sides.  This is exactly what our government wants us to do.  To be divided and conquered while they run all the way to the Federal Reserve Bank (which is not ran by the Federal Government, it is a private bank, haha!!!)  Wake up sheepies and smell the molasses.

The VP candidate would step up and either run themselves or withdraw in favor of a new candidate, generally the next runner up for the nomination.  For the Dem's that would be Hillary, for the GOP I'm not so sure.

The convention delegates would have to get together and select another candidate.

Dems would probably pick Hillary and Republicans would pick Mitt Romney.  Ron Paul would not get the pick because he finished behind Romney and Huckabee and only had a handfull of delegates.

I know the responsibility would fall to the Republican who was second to McCain in the polls but really I don't know who that is!

It wouldnt be Palin tho. He has to get elected and die before she gets to take over. God fobid.
