  1. just look at the cities, the pollution, health problems. tail pipe emissions go into the atmosphere all add to the effect. if you could reduce or eliminate a few million fuel burners and replace them with battery electrics, it would help in the reduction of greenhouse gases. go to the site below and read up on the vehicles that are ZERO EMISSION

  2. Electric vehicles will reduce climate change emmissions, because well to wheel, even if the electric comes from fossil fuel, electric vehicles are still far more efficient.

eg large generators, constantly monitored & maintained, running at optimum load & efficiency on unrefined fuel close to source, transmitted direct to your home or work via 90% efficient grid.

stoping war in the middle east is another problem. Oil is a factor today, but people have been fighting through the area since before the ancient egyptians. see Gilgamesh, probably the first story written down. http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/meso...

  3. I for one would do anything to be able to tell OPEC to take their oil and pour it on their salad for all we care, but we're not there yet and we need to do everything in our power to bring that to reality, unfortunately to many people have the " let the other guy make the changes" attitude and that's why we're not making as much headway as we could be.

  4. energy has to come from someware and for the most part cars and trucks arnt the problem so much as coal and oil based electrical generators, so if u use a rechargeable battery it wont help global warming unless the power is coming from solar, nuclear, hydro electric, ext..., and u u need to consider the amount of energy needed to produce the battery and what its made of and how long it will last.   for the most part batteries are made of acid gels and alkaline metals that need to be refined.  for instance lithium ion (the stuff in laptops and hybrid cars) only has a 60% efficiency over 48hours after 2 years so if u leave your car sitting there with power in the battery its just like havening a leak in a gas tank

u also would need to consider if lithium dioxide and other materials that teh battery puts into the air over time and the amount of energy needed to make the battery offset the amount of co2 reliesed by a car, and it isnt worth it in most cases compared to a small engined car especially when u could use bio diesel and vegetable oil and get 60mpg with a euro focus or vw TDI.

if u really want to stop global warming get a small car or a motor cycle, or just ride a bike but cutting down on ur power usage at home will make a larger impact

  5. if said battery is charged using a green electric energy source, maybe a wind turbine, and the production and maintenance of this battery will not cause substantial use of fossil fuels, than yes, it will help to reduce global warming.

But such an electric battery, that can operate a car for 200 - 300 miles and can be carried by the same car, and live room for passengers and baggage, is still beyond the ability of present day technology.

Fuel cells, which are the closest to these requirements, use a lot of fossil fuel energy to produce and to overhaul.
