  1. Everything you ever wanted to know on charging electric cars:

  2. You have to plug it in somewhere that's why an electric car really isn't "green" because the electricity used to charge it up is most likely produced by a powerplant burning fossil fules or creating radioactive waste.

  3. well there will be street plug which you can recharge your car

additionall in today's gas stations, there will be stands to recharge your car's batteries

additionally, in hybrid cars, there is a mechanism to recharge the batteries while the car is moving, so if you do have a hybrid car, than you don't need to charge it unless you're using it without gas

  4. battery

  5. An electric car?  Just plug it in like any other tool or appliance.  It draws power from your house circuits.  You pay for the power, but it's WAY cheaper than gasoline for the same number of miles.

You can get a deal with your electric company to buy much cheaper power at night, so that lowers your costs even more.

  6. I drive a Prius (hybrid- gas & electric) and I think that when the engine is running on gas, it charges up the batteries. I don't know but I never plug it in. With a vehicle that runs 100% on electricity, it has to be plugged in.

  7. An all electric car must be plugged in either overnight, or for a few hours to gain any charge.  No more 3 minute stops at the "gas" station.

  8. It's either charged inside the car by solar cells, energy recovery systems  or a generator run by a small gasoline motor.

    OR

You plug it in at night.

  9. Most pure electric cars are designed to be recharged from a standard electric outlet. Electricity from the power grid is much cheaper than gasoline - I drive an electric vehicle that gets 4 miles to the kilowatt-hour, so I only pay a penny or two per mile, which is MUCH cheaper than gasoline.

Electric vehicles are cheap to drive because they are extremely energy efficient - this means more miles can be traveled on less energy. This is also why electric car pollute very little, even when power plants burn fossil fuels.

New designs for electric cars have fast charging batteries. This means that, in addition to charging in your own garage, you will also have the option of a ten-minute recharge from a high powered charger (which would be located at a service station.) Here's one of the cars with the ten-minute charge batteries:

  10. There are to kinds of electric cars, hybrids and a plain electric veichle. Hybrids are fairly more common than original electric cars because of the size of the vehicles vary. Hybrids use gas and electricity. The gas charges the battery and Viola.

Electric Cars work differently. They have to be plugged in and be charged relatively for a whole night. Electric cars are usually quite small.

  11. Generally with the priuses that have been "hacked" they charge at about 8kwh a day and from memory that you around 120km range just on the one charge..(which then kicks as normal) or you could modify it to run off 150km to the gallon.........

Some protypes have been made with solar panels on them, I have even seen one with a windmill so it charges while it is sitting...

The priuses have been designed to run off your mains electricity.... 8kwh isnt that much considering it is like running a dishwasher or bar heater for 4 hours...

A reasonably small windmill/ solar panels could power it or if you are on the grid and pay also for green energy it can be done this is why it hailed as being the greenest car of all time...This would equate to about a dollar a charge

(Toyota is responding to everyone that hacks their car by voiding the warranty and bringing out their own protype electric prius)(hacking is done by increasing the battery bank as the priuses were not designed to hold large amounts of energy in their batteries)

  12. wherever theres an outlit

    simple

  13. Generally, you plug them in. But for some strange reason, many hybrids don't come with a plug! So those have to charge themselves using their engines, wasting precious gasoline.
