  2. There is a lot of theories, but the fact that it came from a graviational singularity in the big bang is one theory. But you have to remember that time is not necessarily linear.

    Read about Feynman diagrams for instance. One person sees the creation of a matter and anti-matter particle and subsequent collision of a different matter particle and the original anti-matter particle. Feynman may look at the same thing and see one matter particle racing backwards and forwards through time.

    The Dancing Wu Li Masters is almost 30 years old, but it's a perennial good book to read about quantum mechanics.
