  1. Sound isn't energy. It is air waves created by our vocal chords. And the waves dissipate just like waves created by a small stone thrown into a pond.

  2. sound waves

are simply the compression and rarification

    of air

    that are transmitted through air

    (or other materials)

    the simple answer

is that the energy of the air

is absorbed by objects it hits

you can see this for yourself

if you go into a carpeted room

the energy of the air waves are absorbed  by the carpet

if instead you go ito a highly polished

    hard wood

    foyer

    with hard marble walls

    the sound waves

bonce off the floors and wall for a while

until they are absorbed by soft obljects like your body
