the throne (King Harald V of Norway), what would the public's opinion most likely be of having a foreign monarch as head of the UK? Would he share the title of KIng of Norway and Great Britain? Also, if the public opinion was negative, would the monarchy be likely to be abolished for a republic here in the UK?

  1. They're not British at all they are amix of GERMANS and GREEKS.

  2. That's so stupid.

I wouldn't want a foriegner to be the King of England especially if he is Norwegian.

Who cares if he would be the rightful heir?

Find the SECOND most noble family in Britain and make them the royal family!

  3. how stupid we all know john goodman would be king.........

  4. our monarchy is already foreign so what difference would it make if King Gerald of Never Never land became the new monarch?  Personally I'd like to see Britain become a republic

  5. What do you mean how would people like a foreign monarch?  The Windsors are all krauts!  They're as foreign as you can get-that's why Diana was allowed to marry Charles, so real English blood would get into the bloodlines.

  6. The English people loves their Monarch. They'll never let them go, let alone allowed them to be assassinated. Don't be surprised if 007 comes knocking at your door.

  7. ridiculous question.

how likely is that to happen?

  8. It will never happen, so it's not worth even entertaining as a thought.

  9. Don't even think about going down such a ridiculous pathway James H. It really isn't wise. Prove that you are not at all like that famous twerp the other James H.

  10. I don't think that would really work, as there are quite a few people around who have a greater 'right' to the throne than our Royal Family. I did read how many, an astonishingly high figure, but that was years ago, there are probably even more now before you need to go down the list.

  11. The last English king of the English people was Harold II of the House of Wessex, and he died in AD 1066, ever since then, the Kingdom of England has been ruled by 'foreigners' - the Norman French under the Houses of Normandy, Blois, Plantagenet, Lancaster & York, the Welsh under the House of Tudor, the Scots under the House of Stuart, the Germans under the Houses of Brunswick (Hanover) & Saxe-Coburg-Gotha of the House of Wettin - which changed its name to the House of Windsor in 1917. Upon the death of the present Queen, using patrilineal descent (descent from father to son), the name of the British royal house will be that of her husband, the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg... although the name of the Royal Family will continue to be the House of Windsor in law. So having a ‘foreigner’ upon the English throne is nothing new; some of them have even made good leaders. For all that, I’m a monarchist, and until convinced of a better system for my country will remain one.

  12. The monarchy is foreign anyway so there would be no difference.

  13. The quicker we abolish the family of chinless inbreds, the better!!

Trajan:Excellent, concise answer. If you had  a better successor, maybe the Roman Empire wouldn't have declined!

  14. We have had a number of foreign monarchs over the years...not too good at remembering which ones, but certainly French, Dutch and German

  15. We are proud of our royal family!

I don't think Harald of Norway would be the first "foreigner" in line of the British throne, I think Margrethe of Denmark is closer and, if I remember correctly, the Norwegian chose their King Haakon from Denmark.

This is a very unlikely situation, but I think if it would be better if Great Britain became a republic, rather than have a Norwegian or Danish monarch.

  16. it can happen, but it would have to get the british public's opinion.

  17. He would not be the first foreign King.  Try Harold and William the Conqueror  or George the first It may well be the excuse to have a republic. I do not think a republic would serve us well. We had one under Cromwell and did not particularly like the experience

  18. I would like to see the back of a monarchy however not for a republic.

  19. lol in all honesty i dont think anybody would care in this day and age. i think all that would happen is either he's popular or he isnt, if he isnt then everyone forgets about the manarchy and move on....at the end of the day it doesnt matter where ur born its still a popularity contest. we only like our monarchy atm cause the queen is so loved for what she does, end of story. chances are if someone comes to throne later on and ppl hate him/her then they will forget and then others will scream louder to abolish the monarchy all together.

but really! does it matter? its not like they got the same powers as they used to, they got less powers than emporer of japan ffs!

  20. no clue

I'm probly in line for the throne too

    maybe like 35,984, 334th

    or something like that
