If everyone got $1 more an hour would you care about gas prices so much??

I mean 1 dollars more an hour would totally cover the difference of gas prices. If you work a 40 hour week(like me) then you would get 40 dollars more a week.

I would happily make the trade off.

  1. NOPE.

The price of gas is figured into everything - milk, bread, restaurant, etc.

It isn't just about the cost of commute.

    Good Luck...

  2. I'm a telecommuter - works for me.

  3. keep coughing up the money

they will keep jacking up the prices

  4. I'm partly self-employed & am raising my own rates more than a $1 per session (which is what I usually do) to keep up with inflation this year because of gas.  I'm also having to tack on a gas fee to certain individuals where I have to go to their house & it's too far out of the way.  It didn't used to bother me so much before, & I hate doing it, but I'm gonna end up losing income if I don't do this.  And in case anyone's wondering, this is the kind of educational service that people don't have to have for their kids anyway, & I'm sure most of them will understand & won't mind too much.

But to answer the question, I agree, having raised rates/wages would help a lot of people out because a lot of people are being hurt by this & aren't getting enough  reimbursement sometimes, making enough money to offset the cost of gas, &/or people who have to drive to multiple locations throughout their working day (as I do often).

  5. yes...but lets say you work at idk...t mobile where thousands of people work...if they raised $1 per hour they may not be able to afford it any more after about 2 months...but also i think the whole gas idea of yurs is good but not good enuf coz some people dont work and also if u work lets say 7 hours a day then an extra 7 dollars would be more than anuf to cover the extra price of gas unless u work like half an hour away from ur home

  6. yeah I spend about 40 every 3 days in gas so.... it still doesn't even out. It would help. My company issued everybody a $150 bonus to help ease the pinch. Nice gesture but let's see how far it will stretch.

  7. No, because that $1 would go to other things. Maybe $3. But then that $3 would go to something else.

I just would be happy if we went back down to $1.78 a gallon.

  8. that wouldn't help... its 40 dollars a week....

the average vehicle gets 25 MPG

average car tank holds 20 GAL.

gas is on average 4.15 a gallon

4.15 times 25 = 83.00 it will cost 83 dollars to fill your car... if you dont spend 85 bucks it wont be that bad... but most americans are still going to feel the pinch.. saying how much we drive and some cars get worse gas mileage than 25 MPG

  9. Yeah that would be just fine with me, I only live 8 minutes from my work so I barely use gas but I do have friends that live a god 45 minutes away that I cant go see hardly cause of gas, so yeah $40 extra bucks would be perfect. I dont know about not caring about the prices, they are still too high but it would help me..now other people it might not even put a dent in helping them. Plus that wouldnt make me drive more I would still stay at home most of the time, I would by groceries also with it, food is pricey too...
