  1. The better question is, why are people still buying bottled water? It is tap water minus the fluoride that we all need.

You can reuse your water bottles to take water along with you to work, school, ect. or you can recycle them.

  2. Putting a deposit tax is a debated issue, people in general dont like any new taxes no matter how minute they may be.  I think its logical since you can easily get the tax back by simply returning the bottle at a recycling center.  And just because there is no deposit doesnt mean you cant recycle.  Towns can encourage recycling in other ways...in my town you can only throw away your household trash in town approved bags.  They are bright green with the town name on them and can only be purchased through the town.  They cost about 4 bucks a bag, however recyclables can be placed at the dump without a town bag, so to save money you want to use as few town bags as possible meaning if you recycle you will have less town bags to throw away therefore spending less money.

  3. guesss it depends where you live because here we get 5 cents for them.. but personally I am concerned about the environemtn AND my health.. so I NEVER drink bottled water.

  4. Water bottles are not returnable because they cannot simply be washed and reused: they have to be melted down and remade.  They are recyclable but this doesn't help much because we are currently producing more plastic then can be recycled.

Please do not buy bottled water.  But a reusable bottle and fill it yourself.  It is more environmentally friendly and will cost much less!  If you are buying a beverage in a bottle and have an choice between glass and plastic chose glass.  It can be washed and reused which takes much less energy.  If you are worried about it breaking wrap it in a sock!

  5. I'm drinking water bought at the store because I don't trust the tap water.

The city water recently placed highly in a North American competition taste test.

Cryptosporidium. Chlorine. Fluoride. I'm safer drinking water from rain puddles.

  6. They aren't returnable, rather recyclable.  We recycle all of ours.  The town picks ours up--we put them in a bag, stick them  by the recycling bin and off they go.
