Question:

If everyone was vegan, would cows be extinct?

Since vegans don't want animals being used for our benefit, then ideally we would all be vegan, right? but if we don't use cows for meat or dairy, would they exist? there would be no reason to raise them, and i've never seen a cow in the wild...

  1. No they would over populate just like the white tail deer in urban settings.  We would see cow patties all over our streets and lawns.

  2. we are the reason there are even cows. You don't see cows in the wild because humans created them from bison- somehow. and they are mass produced for meat consumption

i am sure they would go down in 'supply' and maybe extinct.

or if everyone drasticly decided at once to be a vegan then cows would stop being slaughtered and we'd have an overpopulation ofcows, which would be a pretty good thing id say, except for methane

  3. They are domesticated and have no chance of making it in the wild whatsoever. But I think some sympathizers and environmentalist and zoos would keep some around, they might even have some other use later. So not extinct, but almost.

  4. yes they would be extinct as we would have no need for hem and over thousands of years of domestication they would be easy prey and would die out

Edit trolls you do realise that there is a chance that someone else on this planet could be called adam...dont know if thats ever dawned on you???

its funny how i got lots of thumbs down because every veggie assumed me and the guy askin the Q were the same person....i mean wow for apparently being smarter than us you really ont show it...i mean come on theres bout to be another adam out there

  5. I don't think they would be extinct unless we were to kill them all, or kept them separate from the bull so they couldn't reproduce. otherwise they would still continue to live.

  6. I think there would be more cows, because there would be no one to kill them so, they would be able to mate more, and therefore increase the population.

  7. Like we don't know Adam & Timmy are the same person.

They would not be extinct. There are many people in the world working on the continuation of all species.

EDIT: Apologies. The Timmy that posted here is also known as Adam and is considered a troll.

  8. The cows population would be in "equilibrium". I dont think there would be extinction nor overpopulation. Although some would stop raising so much cows because we wont need it (if everyone would be vegan) but I believe there are people that would raise them as pets not really like how we treat cats and dogs. Also, there are alot of religions that preserve the life of cows and I dont think they would let all cows die.

  9. No, i think there would be an overpopulation of cows. They wouldn't stop reproducing.
