  1. I would say our environment controls how our brain operates (like how much stress we go through each and every day and what not) and yes I believe that our brain tends to control how our body works (obviously) but in a way our brain has a mind of its own at times I know it does to me since I have real bad anxiety so I know firsthand what the brain can do to your body

  2. your thalamus.

  3. The brain controls the body and works by itself.  Nothing controls the brain.

  4. Some would say conciousness or the soul, but some may argue that the conciousness is also a result of the brain.  I think that after your conciousness is developed it can effect the brain, but over all I think it operates itself.
