Question:

If evolution was proved beyond doubt?

If God were to appear in the sky and announce to the world that the Bible is in fact literally true, and the world and all life was created in 6 days, I would think that even the most outspoken evolutionists would have to stand up, and say "Ok, I was wrong. So which way is h**l?" Suppose things went the other way, however. What if irrefutable evidence was found that supported evolution? it doesn't even really matter what the actual evidence may be. We just need to imagine it as proof beyond doubt of evolution. In such a situation, how would faith stand up to it? Would die-hard Christians (or even just ordinary religious people who take the Bible's word for it) argue that God actually created that irrefutable evidence so that the "unfaithful" would be led away from God by this manufactured evidence and only the truly faithful would see through it. What does everyone think?

  1. Well, then I'd be a monkey's Auntie!

  2. Evolution has been proved beyond reasonable doubt - some people just don't seem to realize that! As more and more evidence for evolution appears so called die-hard christians will continue to do what they are doing at the moment - stick there heads in the sand!

  3. POOZA; that isn't a gap.  If a tree grows a new branch do all the others die?

I think the response would be pretty much what you said, faith test, God's work, yada yada yada.

  4. If God did do that I would not be convinced. I would think I was hallucinating, or going mad, or that another country's military was projecting a hologram prior to invading my country, or something like that. But I would accept the possibility of evolution not being true if someone ever did come up with a better explanation.

As Mummy of Kaydence said, they will always find an excuse not to believe. I have seen creationists on this board argue that God created those skeletons in the ground to 'test our faith'. Usually however they dismiss the deposition of sediment as the work of the flood in the Noah story, which is just as ludicrous.

  5. I would say WOOT!

  6. The problem is, evolutionary biologists keep presenting proof, Piltdown man, Lucy, etc. Then a few years later they are definitively proven to be hoaxes or improperly assembled skeletons or even a modern pig tooth. With this kind of track record, there would have to be a lot of proof - not just a couple of partial skeletons and a lot of imagination, which is what most of their "missing link" claims are based on. Dating methods are open to interpretation, as the Flood would possibly have altered it, and the fact that they are based on assumptions of uniformity. The genome? We would expect a lot of similarity when we are all carbon based creatures designed to live in the same world. Then there is abiogenesis, that life came out of the primordial soup. That is the biggest thing they would have to prove is true, or at least mathematically possible, which they have failed to do. The statistical odds against it are greater than one to the number of atoms existing in the universe by many times.

So I repeat - It would really take a lot to "prove" evolutionary theory.

Oh, and if the Bible is true, which it is, then the day is coming, probably soon, where Jesus is going to do exactly that, come and announce that the Bible was true.

  7. So, this is the opposite of the old "Satan put dinosaur bones in the earth to fool everyone" variety of question in reverse.

And the answer is that "if-then" questions rarely get anywhere fast in religious contexts.

Next to the UN, the IRS, and the Fderal Reserve, evolution is the biggest hoax going. It's got so many philosophical holes in it you could p**s in one hole and hit twenty others all at the same time. Of course, those who were spoon-fed (brainwashed) on naturalism, humanism, and secularism can't really be expected to think for themselves, I guess.

  8. Here is the most powerful evidence.

Generation and annotation of human chromosomes 2 & 4.

Our genetic link to the great apes has already been illustrated by Ken R. Miller and associates and proven by Hillier et al.   We SHARE A COMMON ANCESTOR AND DID NOT COME FROM (emphasis only not yelling) them. This research has been verified by scientists around the world.  Have to love those supercomputers for mapping out genomes.

In lay terms, we are “cousins”.

Apes have 48 chromosomes; humans 46.  Within our genetic make-up is a FUSED pair of primate chromosomes which accounts for the difference.  The line for the great apes has remained because that chromosome pairing has remained UNFUSED.

The genetic marker is on Human chromosome number 2, site base 114,455,823 to 114,455,838.

  9. I think you are a brainwashed idiot. That's what I think.

Deist with a B.A. Degree in Anthropology (Archaeology)

Evolution is a scientific theory and a fact.

P.S. What if God came down and told you that the Bible was false and the Mayan Popol Vuh was true?

  10. You are proof of evolution.

  11. that's the question of the century. but how i look at it is 7 days for God could be like 7 million years for us. I think it's a little stupid to completely disregard scientific advancement but at the same time:

    2 Corinthians 5:7

we walk by faith and not by sight

  12. Never answer an "IF" question.

    Sheesh

    Imam Salim

  13. "If evolution was proved beyond doubt?"

    Is has been.

See, you don't need a hypothetical to answer your question.  Just look around.

  14. Why do people want to believe their ancestors were a bunch of stenching, vile, lice-eating monkeys?

I'm not a full-out Christian but I don't believe in evolution. First off it's c**p that monkeys would be the only animal to evolve so drastically and if they did, why wouldn't it be ALL of them?

Why is it so important for some to have to believe that humans evolved from those nasty, vulgar creatures? What about all other forms of life? Where did they come from? Evolved out of what? Why do humans have to be the only creature on the planet that evolved? It' c**p! Total c**p!

  15. The thing about evolution is that there are so many gaps that are unexplained, for instance, why aren't apes still evolving today?

    -Edit-CHILD OF APE, your analogy doesn't make sense...sorry :)

  16. @ imagine...

we are all proof of evolution, so yes, you're correct

    @ hall of skulls...

i think you think this guy is a theist, i doubt he is..

    @perdita rain

im saddened to say i have never seen a person more ignorant than yourself, pat yourself on the back it's hard for me to say that... i've seen some doozies before

they have actually said that already.. so im 100% that's how it would play out

if Thor came down and did the same BS, the Xians would be like "that wasn't Thor, it was God calling himself Thor to lead the faithless down the wrong path"

  17. they would always find an excuse to not believe it. Or they would just put their fingers in their ears and refuse to hear the evidence. Not all christians would do this but alot of them would

So many people deny evolution and they dont even know what evolution actually is. Pooza is an example of this.  Her question shows that she has no idea how evolution works.

Perdita rein. Evolutionists do not claim that only humans have evolved. They believe every creature has evolved into what it is today. We did not evolve from apes. We share a common ancestor with apes. They are our closest relations they are not our ansestors.

  18. There is prove of evolution beyond any possible doubt.  Evolution happened, is happening, and will continue to happen.  Only a few closed minded people fail to see this, preferring to hold on to religious beliefs, which have no proof.

  19. "What if irrefutable evidence was found that supported evolution?"

Such evidence was already found many times. The hypothetical situation you describe is fact already.

So the world around you is the answer to your question: They

either deny the evidence or simply remain ignorant of it.

"hy is it so important for some to have to believe that humans evolved from those nasty, vulgar creatures? What about all other forms of life? Where did they come from? Evolved out of what? Why do humans have to be the only creature on the planet that evolved? It' c**p! Total c**p!"

    Hilarious.  : D

  20. That boat sailed 150 years ago, Sam. "The Origin of Species" presented mountains of detailed evidence for evolution, and it has only grown since. You have to be *supremely* willfully ignorant to think that it's "only a theory."

  21. Proof of anything requires an understanding of the elements of that proof.

Do you understand the concepts in this table of contents?

    http://www.pangloss.it/libro.php?isbn=04...

Very few of us do (myself included); this is NOT high school math! Yet most of us (myself included) accept the results that Einstein derived using these mathematical tools (even if some of the details are in question). Many people will never understand it.

Do you understand the concepts here:

    http://www.emc.maricopa.edu/faculty/fara...

This is high school genetics, and still very few of us understand it. Yet if you don't understand this, you will never understand the evidence that proves evolution beyond doubt.

We already have irrefutable evidence to support evolution (even if some of the details are in question), most people just don't understand it. Many people will never understand it.

  22. If I saw God appear in the sky I would see a psychiatrist.

  23. Yes, that's exactly what they would say.

  24. Evolution is 100% fact, 100% inerrant, so God can say whatever he likes, FACTS are FACTS, science is never wrong ever, atheists are never wrong ever.

And even if God did come down, all smart people know it's really a space alien trying to trick us, so there!

    I'm Atheist!

  25. It had been proven beyond doubt.  There are mountains of evidence to prove.  Evolution is as provable as the earth is round.  But know people would continue to doubt evolution and believe that god created earth in 6 days.  They would just claim that evolution is some worldwide conspiracy by scientists and the evidence was invented.  Creationists now think humans and dinosaurs walked the planet together and were pets just like the flinstones.  They'll just adjust their religion to accomidate.
