She's fine at first...for the first 2 minutes. Then, she gets comfortable and will start nipping other dogs/people. She also jumps on people.

She never nips me or my family anymore.

  1. When ever she tries to nip at people give her a smack on the bum not to hard but not to soft. Then tell her no very sternly. If someone come and she doesn't nip give her a small treat. dogs jumping on people is just an instinct just push her down every time she jumps up and after a while she won't do it anymore

  2. hiya collies are well known 'nippers' as they are herders, i do not know much if anythign about pitbulls apart from they were bred as fighting dogs.

with collies what we tend tyo do is if they 'nip' at the heel when playing or not, fall to the ground and let out a high pitched 'yelp' they dog will know you are hurt, go a bit over board and stop the game and leave the room, after about 5 tiems the dog will realise that the nipping stops the fun!

they are so quick to learn might take less time or 10 times.

when she jumps do not say 'down' any words are a priase to a dog in this situation.

dont smack her or push her down she will see it as a game.

when she jumps simply fold your arms and turn your back and ignore her, once she has stopped jumping knell down to her height & give her a treat and say well done.

soo she will realise there is no point in jumping & its more fun to stay on the groud as she will get treats!
