  1. Butter and margarine will have the same calories...

1 stick is 8 tablespoons.... the recipe uses 7 tablespoons... so you save a little becuase you use less.  It doesn't matter if it's butter or maragrine in terms of calories.  However, the texture will be different.

Egg whites are lower fat than a whole egg.... most of the fat is in the yolk.... so you do save their.

using 1/4 C regular versus 1/4C mini chocolate chips... you may save a little since there may be fewer regular chips in 1/4 cup, but that savings is a minimal impact.

  2. The butter will be slightly more calories than the margarine, but the cookies will taste  MUCH better with butter.  Same thing with the egg yolk:  a few more calories, but a much richer (and moister) flavor.  Substituting the chips is immaterial, because they're the same calories per weight ....  This recipe may be lower in fat, but it sure has ALOT of sugar in it!  You don't need to use 2 kinds of brown sugar either;  just use the entire amount of one brown sugar ..... Remember that the extra fat & calories is being divided among 3-4 DOZEN cookies, so don't worry about it........

  3. Hmm...a cup of chocolate is a cup of choclate...so the chocolate chips doesn't matter. That would be like saying a ton of bricks weighs more than a ton of feathers.

However, doesn't sound like a very tasty recipe! You're getting rid of all the good stuff!! lol

  4. If you only use 1/4 cup of regular chips, it will be the same as 1/4 cup of mini chips.  The reason they're using mini is for better distribution of the chocolate for a similar taste with less calories.

Butter has more calories (generally) than butter.

And egg whites will make it less caloric as well.  If you just use one egg, you won't get the same rise on your cookies.

    Good luck
