  1. my daughter breastfed and had supplemental formula at that age. she ate 4oz formula bottles every 3 hours. and she breastfed before she ate that. she only spit up every once  in awhile. babies dont over eat, when they are done they will let you know

  2. My first born was 8 lb's 1 oz, and ate way too much formula because of her size, she as always hungry (over 8 bottles a day.)  Back then the doctors told us not to feed our babies.  She gained too much weight because of that.

My second was 8lb's 5oz, and by 2 weeks old I was putting a little cereal in her formula.  She was satisfied and the perfect weight.

*Talk to your doctor about adding a little baby cereal to one of the feedings.  Formula is different than breast mils and it really fattening.  I hope the doctors these days let you feed your child.  Back in the '80's they told us not to feed them until they were 5 months old!!!!  How ridiculous.

  3. when my son was about two weeks he was still getting breast milk and formula but when he was eating formula he got 3 to 4oz and he would eat 3 to 4 hours between...

  4. At first, he'll probably want to eat about every three hours. Most newborns consume around two to three fluid ounces of formula during each feeding. This usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.

If you have questions, the best person to consult is your baby. Watch for his cues. If he's had enough, he may fall asleep, or close his mouth and turn away from the bottle. Or he'll bite or play with the bottle nipple. Or even start to fuss if you keep trying to give him the bottle. And don't forget, burping him is important, too.

By the end of the first month, he will probably be up to three or four fluid ounces per feeding. By six months, he may be eating six to eight fluid ounces, with four or five feedings every 24 hours. But these are just general guidelines. And you shouldn't be too concerned about getting your baby on a specific schedule. Experts say it's best to feed babies "on demand."

Try to make your baby's feeding relaxing and enjoyable for both of you. It's a perfect time to bond. If you're calm and relaxed, chances are your baby will be, too. If you're busy or rushed, he's bound to sense it and might not be as cooperative.

  5. I think she was up to 1-1 1/2 ounces by that time, but I had a preemie.

I think normally maybe 3-4 ounces.

  6. My daughter is 4 weeks old...but at 2 weeks she was eating 2.5-3 oz every 2 hours...shes eating 3.5 every 2 hrs now.
