  1. From the root -5, we have

    0 = (-5)² + b(-5) + c

    0 = 25 - 5b + c

    5b - c = 25 [Equation 1]

    From the root 7, we have

    0 = (7)² + b(7) + c

    0 = 49 + 7b + c

    7b + c = -49 [Equation 2]

    You can use either Elimination or Substitution Methods to solve for b and c.

    I'll use Elimination.

    Equation 1 + Equation 2 :

    12b = -24

    b = -24/12 = -2

    Sub back into Equation2:

    7(-2) + c = 49

    c = 49 + 14 = 63
