And Exxon still insists they don't price gouge. Then why is every gas station near my house around $3.70-$3.85 but the two Exxon stations are still at $4.89?

  1. Hey, if people still stop in and buy from these Exxon stations at their higher price, then you should be ticked at the fuelish customers for supporting the higher price, not the station.

They will charge as high as customers are willing to pay, and no less.

If nobody will buy their gas, they'll either lower there price or shutter-up.

  2. $4.89?  That sounds like the price for diesel.  The Exxon station close to my place was at $3.72 this morning.

  3. because exxon does price gouge, but they have too many important lobbyists, so the government will do nothing to reprimand them

  4. It's not price gouging and here's why:

You have a choice as to where you buy your gasoline.  If every station charged exorbidant prices, you'd be a victim of price gouging.

If you didn't have a choice, then it would be price gouging.

Maybe the station owner is involved in a battle with Exxon and this is his way of fighting them.
