Im glad i live in Washington, DC and convenient to Everything...on the bus or Subway it will take me less than 30 minutes to go anywhere i want. DC has the best transit system...its not scary like boston or NY...nice clean and very safe. AND you will not have to wait more than 5 minutes for anything. The recently mad the cabs get meters so those trips are costly.

  1. I don't worry,I burn wvo.I keep 500 gals encase of fuel shortages.Buy a old Mercedes diesel.

  2. I'll just have to park my car and  ride my Harley since it gets twice the mileage  : )

  3. If that did happen, there would be much economic pain to middle and low income earners.  People would stop buying items they didn't need, causing many businesses to go bankrupt.  This would cause other businesses to also lose money, such as the truck companies, shipping companies, railroads, wholesalers, etc.  The firms in India and China that supply much of these items would also suffer greatly from this economic slowdown in the U.S.  Opec would feel pain too as all this would mean a great decline in demand for their oil.  Once they see their income reduced by a very high figure, they would start pumping day and night to reverse this trend.  And would have to lower their prices back to $1/gallon or so just get people to start driving again and spend money.

  4. I just got back from DC. I totally agree with you. I love the Metro system. The price of gas doesn't bother me. I drive a Honda Civic, and I live less than a mile from my office.

  5. That must be nice for you. If gas reaches $7.00/gallon, well I guess I'm screwed. Public transportation isn't a reality for me, I live too far from school and work to take a bus, and the public transportation in Southern Cali isn't really that great.

  6. Maybe if gas reaches $7 the government will finally build a decent public transit system.

  7. buy a moped and use it to get to work and back.  heck, i'm looking at doing that now.

  8. I will grumble slightly when I pull up to the pumps and get my gas.    I will cut my fun budget by 25-30% and cut my food budget by 10-15% and just carry on.  I did the math and it would not be cost effective for me to move closer to work even if gas went way past $7 a gallon, so I will keep my 50 mile a day commute and deal with it.

Also please understand that the person at the gas station the makes minimum wage and is probably trying to save money for college doesn't need to suffer the wrath of pissed off customers.  They have absolutely no control, if they did they wouldn't be working behind the counter.  They pay for it just like we do.

  9. Buy an old Honda
