My partner is applying for a UK Tourist Visa now - however, we are not planning to get to UK until beginning of May but travel through Asia first. As a result am applying now - just want to know whether the 6months starts straight away or when we actually plan to arrive in UK in 3 months time.

  1. ask the visa office

  2. Six month period begins when you enter UK.  When you go through the custom, the officer would stamp the length of time that you are allowed to stay in the UK.  However, it is usually six months for any people as long as there are proofs for tourism only.

The Visa may have an validation date for that.  Check it, however, it is usually a year or slightly longer.

So, don't worry about when to come round, however, if in doubt, like the other said, check with the VISA office.

BTW, a warm welcome from the UK.

  3. THE DATE OF WHEN YOUR VISA IS USSUED-

THEY WILL MAKE THE DATES ON THE VISA THE SAME DAY WHEN YOU WILL ARRIVE IN THE COUNTRY.

ITS ONLY VALED FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE UNTIL THE EXPIERY DATE

REMEMBER YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO APPLY 90 DAYS BEFORE YOUR ACTUAL DEPATURE DATE
