  1. Gravity powers the glider forward. Similar to how a ball rolling down a hill is powered by gravity. The glider isn't falling due to the bernoulli effect caused by the wing.This makes it so that for the plane to fall, it must go forward as well.

  5. Gliders are towed into the air by another plane. Then the glider uses hot pockets of air which naturally lifts the glider up. The gliders have instruments that indicate how hot the air around the glider is. When they find a pocket of hot air they will spiral around inside slowing increasing altitude.
