Question:

If global warming causes everything how can we know its over - or even if it has really begun?

Religious fundamentalists say fossils do not disprove that God created the world October 23, some 5000 years ago. The creator put those images there. He (God) created the very evidence that scientists like Carl Sagan cite as proof that the world has changed drastically and is ever-changing, at least until our star dies.

Fundamentalists are not the only agenda pushers with closed minds.

Global warming alarmists say that global warming causes both hot and cold weather, rapidly changing weather conditions and unchanging, permanent drought or flood, rising sea water and lowering fresh water, more ice and ice melts, nice weather and bad. Global warming has become the Hollywood version of the evil creator.

If it causes anything and everything, how are you so dead certain about those expensive anti-development laws you want enacted? According to your own global warming rules they must be harmful.

  1. I think that the Discovery channel would be better fit to tell you all about it, you disbeliever, you. Just check your local listings for something about global warming on the Discovery channel.

  2. We call it climate change.  Global Warming is happening but the stresses on the environment cause unusual changes in local areas.  The overall global temperature has risen 0.5 degrees now.  This may seem like a very tiny amount but it is historic because the planet is usually very steady as far as average global temperature is concerned.

The temperature change is concentrated mostly at the poles.  This change affects the whole planet similar to el nino or el nina does with the warming and/or cooling in the central Pacific ocean.  The effects of these changes are well documented and we all understand them to some degree.

The poles are warming and it is most notable in the Arctic because the Arctic is very much ocean as compared with the Antarctic.

Ice pack has been savagely reduced.  The ice pack in the Beaufort sea was about four weeks late this year and is relatively thin.  This is occurring over the whole Arctic ocean.

On Baffin Island, an island of Canada's Arctic, had a chuck of ice the size of Manhattan break away last year.  This has never happened before.  Greenland is melting.

The effect of the delay in the ice pack covering the Arctic ocean is that the open water absorbs the sun's heat for a longer period of time.  The ocean gradually warms causing more ice melting and less winter ice pack.  It is a growing effect.

You may have heard, also, about the transfer of heat from southern oceans to the Arctic.  This is an environmental activity and it is reliant upon CO2.  The behavior relies upon CO2 as an accelerator, so, the more CO2 in the atmosphere the more heat becomes transferred into the north.

NASA predicts the possibilty that the Gulf Stream will be affected by the melting of the ice in the Arctic.  The thought is that the cold fresh water of the melted ice will cause the function of cold water falling downward at the northern point of the Gulf Stream to fail.  This would result in the warming of the north in Europe to discontinue creating a mini-ice age in Europe.  For Europe this would be a catastrophy. Their only hope for survival would be to use more fossil fuels because they can not be ready for this temperature change.

Nevertheless, this cooling in Europe would have to be offset in other parts of the world because the average warming of our Earth would continue.

We might also talk about inbreeding John.

  3. GW doesn't cause everything.  You'll know that when you wise up and stop twisting everything so much that it makes an a** out of you.  Seriously, stop over generalizing everything and see for yourself how these ecosystems work.

  4. Some people have gone overboard on this.  This is the truth.

Global warming will feed more energy into weather systems, making weather more variable.

Global warming doesn't mean the Earth warms evenly.  Some places will get warmer some cooler.  But the average temperature will increase.  Similarly, precipitation patterns will change, with some areas getting more, some less.

Those are basic and undeniable scientific facts.  Twisting them to try to make global warming theory seem inconsistent is just silly.

Here's how we know it's happening:

  5. "Global warming alarmists say that global warming causes... cold weather"

I've been considering that comment so stupid as to be unworthy of a response, but it's starting to p**s me off.  Speak for yourself instead of resorting to poorly substantiated sweeping generalizations in weakly-reasoned attempts to attack others.

    "causes anything and everything"

Not really... just changes related to climate (and maybe a few things that might die as a result).  Because the climate IS changing.  The results of that change will be attributed to that change.  Get used to it.  You'll be hearing more and more about it as the warming continues, accelerates, and as the effects get more impactful on human life.

"how are you so dead certain about those expensive anti-development laws you want enacted?"

What anti-development laws?  Conservation, technology, efficiency, government investment and incentives... and any "anti" development in coal power plants MUST be replaced by "pro" development in solar and other systems to produce the exact same power.

"Fundamentalists are not the only agenda pushers with closed minds."

    Thanks for the demonstration!
