For the simpler fact global warming might not be natural because thousand of years ago we never had machine other then our own hands to creates things we want and need.

Now we have machine that replaces millions of people and those machines we use today that uses fuel might contaminating earth and creating things such as plastic and many other things.

For example: within the Pacific Ocean takes you to a location literally known and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch; a mass of mostly waste plastics that wind up in the ocean on the far west of california causing fish and other animal to suffer and die.

This is only an example oh what people is doing to our earth and i some what believe that when we release our own burned fuel for a few hundreds of years.

The reason i believe in global warming because i suffer from asthma and other lung problems and live in a city where theres always the smell of smoke and always see fogs of smoke in and around new york city.

  1. Yes why are you sitting here and doing nothing about it?Or are you?

  2. Global warming is a political phenomena.

It was started about 30 years ago by the Green lobby and their supporting scientists.

To date none of us has seen any manifestation of global warming.

Climate change, yes. This has always happened, since the world has existed.

We have always had cycles of warm winters and wet summers and yes, even the occasional storm.

I guess it is all down to whether we are of the mind set that believes everything that we are told.

  3. we are taking steps, but they are not substantial enough to make a immediate impact.

We are building more self sustainable buildings, we are recycling more products now than any other time in our history, we are generating increased amounts of our energy from renewable resources, and the word is getting out with people who are engaging the idea

the whole pain is that with politics so deeply involved it takes a bit of time

  4. "Since 1900 the level has risen at 1 to 2 mm/yr; since 1993 satellite altimetry from TOPEX/Poseidon indicates a rate of rise of 3.1 ± 0.7 mm yr–1 [2]. "

Asthma and lung problems are not directly related to golbal warming.  These *probably* come from larger particles, which may be emitted *with* carbon dioxide, but hopefully settle out sooner.

Why "we" do nothing:  Nobody pays us to do anything else.

our economic system (neo-classical) is based on a "false god" of metaphysical assumptions.  This could send signals to the public that things can go on without consequence.

  5. I believe Global Warming is a falsehood. I have lived 30 years on the Gulf of Mexico (southwest Florida) and have not seen the water level rise one bit. My home is only three feet above sea level and it hasnt changed one millimeter in 30 years!

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  6. "We" are doing something. What are you doing exactly? An interesting answer above me about man vs. nature. Man is nature. But we forget. I love farming that allows nature to self-regulate (organic agriculture using complementary crops and ladybugs or mantises for pest control). I love architecture that conforms to the existing landscape. In everything we have choices. Are we going to make nature conform or are we going to conform to nature? I think we'd be a lot better with the latter.

  7. Air pollution is not evidence of man-made global warming.  It is unethical to propagate a falsehood to achieve a desired result.  It is unethical to tax the many to benefit the few.  Local regulations can handle local air pollution.  My air quality is fine.  If any evidence surfaces to support the hypothesis man has altered the climate, I'll support measures to correct it.

Edit:  Apparently a few people here need an ethics lesson.

  8. Here's an interesting answer to your question from a point of view that I'm sure you're going to find different: "We could command nature to change, or we could command man to change. But in any case, man is a part of nature, and our commands will only cause us greater separation from nature, which will result in further harm to nature and to its integral parts - us. None of our attempts to reduce humanity’s harmful influence on nature will yield positive results. The fact is that nature’s actions are purposeful. Its influence on us has nothing to do with how we treat the still, vegetative and animate levels of nature. Nature reacts only to our attitude to one another. Man incorporates the whole of nature within himself, and it “falls” or “rises” together with him. Everything is measured according to the highest level, called “man.”I got it from a blog I discovered. Check out the link for the full post, I hope you'll find it interesting
