If global warming follows the trends predicted what events will happen and when?

Question

I am sceptical around beliefs that humans are causing global warming and that it is the end of the world etc

If these predictions are true can someone post some sign posts, some events on the way and when they will happen.

I don't belive that global warming is due to our polution of the planet. I think some clever guys with $m are going to make a huge more $m out of us buying stuff to become environmental friendly.

Look at the history of the planet's weather. It changes every few hundred years.

However, based on history, I think they can make some predictions but I doubt the ice caps will melt etc

The hottest summer on record here in UK was back in 1976.  No one mentioned Globular Warming back then.

Apparently there is now a big hole in the ice-cap at the North Pole - yeah, but this happens every summer - actually, it's summer up there and winter down the other end. You noticed that?

More polar ice will melt, causing the sea level to rise, so many areas that are habited now will be uninhabitable.  But guess what else will happen?  Many areas that are uninhabitable now because they are too cold will become habitable, and will also become excellent farmland.  So basically, you'll be vacationing in sunny Nova Scotia.  That's about it.  It makes me laugh when people get all freaked out about CO2, considering that the developing world, AKA China and India, are not even ABOUT to start doing anything about it.  They just got the technology, they're not going to limit it!  So, by all means, walk ten miles to work everyday and read by candle light at night.  It won't make one iota worth of difference in the long run.  Not one.

We could see a thunderstorm in California drop over 8,000 lightning strikes that will start over 1,000 wildfires.  We could also see a extreme drought in the Southeast.  There might be rainstorms in the Midwest that might cause record flooding.  There may be a record number of tornadoes.

If global warming follows what has ACTUALLY HAPPENED then the earth will be a few degrees cooler in 60 years,

The world has been COOLING since 1998.Do some research on this.

The fact is nobdy really knows, that is why there is so much room for sceptism

The people who wish not to believe say it is money-making scams by governments. I am in the uk and I know that our government makes much more in taxes from fossil fuels (something like 70% on petrol is tax) than they ever will in wind energy.

Also, to reduce CO2, we are actually saving ourselves money.  If you dont use electricity, you dont pay for it.  Common sense really.

Global warming has actually changed to global climate change.  Average tmperatures will rise, but remember, that is average. Some places will actually get colder, it is not as simple as saying wow what a hot day, it must be global warming.

We do know there will be an increase in extreme weather events but it is difficult to say exactly what will happen when because of positive feedback systems not previously known about have been discovered.

e.g. warming of permafrost has uncovered lots of partially decayed plant matter which is now fully decaying, producing lots of methane. Methane is a more powerful greenhouse gas than CO2.  

We dont understand all of the Earths systems, and we would be arrogant to assume we do based on this scentific report or that newspaper article.  We don know that global temperatures are rising in almost perfect harmony with rising CO2 levels (time lag mathematical model).  

I hope it isnt occuring.  Is it worth the risk of not taking preventative measures though?

I guess the most neutral way to look at is is that we are living in the biggest scientific experiment ever.

If it isnt occuring, great, we live...if it is, saying we told you so to those who dont want to admit it is wont be especially satisfying either.

When is uncertian but it will happen.

NOTE: I am one that does not believe it is all humans doing. That it is mostly geophysical with a bit of human activity mixed in.
