If global warming is a conspiracy theory, what has anyone got to gain from the result of the conspiracy?

Some very savvy investors, will clearly see the trend in advance and make a lot of money from this problem.  It's similar to the people that bought into airline stocks following 9/11 (when they plummeted).  But just like the airline investors didn't cause 9/11 (or invent it), so also those people that will make money from our changing energy market didn't cause (or invent, as some will ludicrously claim) global warming.

Those people (doubters, of all things) that think Al Gore is some kind of incredible genius with the brilliance to fool thousands of scientists and governments around the world, just so he could get "rich" (as if he wasn't already rich enough from his wise investment in google and other things) must be reading too many arch-villian type comic books.

Global warming has been a concern of scientists going back to the 19th century. As a better understanding of climate and greenhouse gases increased and the warming temperature effects rose above normal weather noise, the concern increased significantly.

its not a conspiracy its fact the gases that come from burning fuels are destroying the o zone and if they arnt stopped the worlds temprature will rise and the ice caps will melt. at a four degrease increase the uk will end up under water in winter due to flooding at six the temprature will have risen so much that 90% percent of all life on earth will have gone extinct

I watched a documentary that said Maggie Thatcher is the one who started it all, because she wanted nucleur power so put extra funding in scientists proving that carbon dioxide harms the world.  

And now just look around you, cars get taxed extra for being gas guzzlers, petrol is taxed extra, road tax is being introduced, we're paying more for 'green' things - a h**l of a lot of people are benefiting!  Think of all the new job that have come about just by global warming, and all the taxes, and all the new products we can buy for being green!

Listen to the 'even if global warming is not true, it can't hurt" arguments.  Environmental groups have been trying to convince us to cut back on energy use, way before global warming became a problem.  That is why they supported the theory as soon as it came out way back in the early eighties, even before the study of climate even began.

Do you know how much revenue our own government are getting from so called green taxes? What do they do with it? Waste it! I have a so-called gas guzzler a volvo xc90, i get up to 39mpg from it on a long run (diesel) and its emissions are extremely low. I have to pay through the nose for this car and yet go down the local highstreet and the number of clapped out cars over 10 years old spewing fumes into the air is unbelievable! That is where they ought to start not with decent well maintained vehicles!

A conspiracy would involve a small group of people doing something in secret.  GW is too big for that, although within the general group of GW believers there are some who conspire purposely to gain power, control and money by pushing the hysteria with lies.  There exists a large group of people who happen to have been taught to think in a certain way, to react in similar ways. They are socialists, liberals, communists, leftists, the Transnational Progressives.  

If a scientist on the faculty of a major university, dominated by TP type people, opposes GW then without consulting each other the TP types in the university want him removed as incompetent, the TP editors of scientific journals independently decide he should not have articles published, the TP politicians decide not to fund his work, TP people in the news media make fun of him.  TP people believe in GW and this is simply how they react to anyone challenging their beliefs.

The Tranzi  [Transnational Progressive] will support freedom of speech, except when it opposes his worldview, then he will shout it down, riot, assault the speaker and deny freedom of speech to any who oppose their ideas.  Try to talk about personal freedom, nationalism, conservative, traditional values and they attack to deny you the right to speak, because they "know" you are wrong.

Tranzi politicians stand to gain power and control over people as they pass stricter laws and to gain money from taxes which they can then distribute in the form of programs to aid the "poor" and buy their votes.

Good question - and some pretty dumb answers ! Global warming is not a thoery. A theory is something which has not been proved. Scientists everywhere are agreed that the changes in the weather and the environment are happening far faster than they would naturally. Ever since the industrial revolution there have been warnings about the effects of such activities on the environment and only now are people starting to listen.  We are destroying our own life support system by  our greed and thoughtlessness. Those who are already suffering excessive flooding, and the loss of their lands are the poorest and the least able to cope. This world is our home - our only home - would you trash your home ?

I don't believe global warming is a conspiracy-but I highly doubt that humans are causing it. We're only responsible for less than a percent of the greenhouse effect.

I don't know what they have to gain. I think they actually belive humans have done all of this. I mean, we did do a little bit, but not that much.

60-95% of the greenhouse effect comes from water vapor. And the amount of water vapor the air can hold rises with the temperature.

But even if humans haven't done ANYTHING to increase the greenhouse effect (haha! That's funny.), the earth IS still getting warmer. We're the ones who need to stop it, because WE are going to be affected by it.
