  1. "why doesn't anyone do anything about it?" Let's see:  How about the elimination of aerosol cans that emit CO2, smoke stack regulations to reduce the emmission of CO2, automobile manufacturers, in response to customer demand, make cars with less CO2 emmission,  and more.  There is more research that offers more info.

  2. idk :d

  3. Global warming is a sham for gov. and business's to make money, history has shown us that the world has gone through many stages from ice ages to droughts to floods. So we have have been enjoying some  nice weather for the last 1000 years that doesn't mean the world is just going to stop changing because we want it to,but leave it to someone to make money off of it while it does change.

  4. Yes, if it is such a serious issue (and I believe it is),why aren't we pursuing the most effective reduction strategy first, reducing black carbon air pollution?

As for CO2, which will be very hard to reduce, this report shows the major sources in North America (40% coal power plants, 30% transportation, etc):

  5. There are only 50 % people worldwide that think human actions caused global warming problem, and among other 50 % of people many of them think human actions are not solely responsible as for them natural changes in climate change are as much responsible as human actions. Only 42 % of people want governments to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Majority of people think that individual actions can't do much in fight against global warming. Global warming still hasn't received attention of enough people to forced governments to a quick action. This new quick action should include significant changes in energy sector of many countries, and this is something that big countries would still love to avoid.

  6. Because large sections of the population do not understand the urgency of the situation. The fossil fuels industry has a huge, well financed lobbying industry. Because politicians listen to money. Because people are scared to stand up to politicians, or, worse, have blind faith in them. Because we're constantly told that acting on climate change would be worse of us than not acting (which is a load of c**p, obviously. We can exist without a functioning economy, but we can't exist without functioning ecosystems).

The fact that it is a threat is not influenced by whether people act or not - Iraq wasn't a threat, but the US government and co. convinced people it was, and most of the industrialised world "did something about it", before finding out they were wrong in the first place.

  7. There is nothing we can do about it right now. It seems counter-intuitive, but actually the problem is easier to solve the longer you wait to solve it. The primary reason for this is that we will have improved technology.

For example, if we were to perfect fusion power, it would be very easy to stop using oil, coal, and gas (except maybe for things like airplanes). If you knew for a fact that fusion would be practical in thirty years, it would be very foolish to do anything now.

We are getting closer to being able to make practical emissions-free cars using electric power. But this relies on some source of electric power, which we don't have yet (other than burning coal).

Unfortunately, we don't know that we will perfect fusion in thirty years. We may be kind of screwed by global climate change.

Unfortunately, there's no evidence that any actions we could take would fix the problem, and we know for sure that most of the things we could try will kill millions of people.

Our best estimates say that if we were to radically redesign our entire society to radically minimize our release of greenhouse gases, this might slow global warming by 10 or 20 years. It's just not worth all that suffering to slightly slow down the problem.

  8. too many holes in the bucket to store water!

  9. You need to do some research. A lot of people are doing a great deal.  Examples:

    >Research and start-up firms  have invested $3.5 billion in new capital in alternative energy just last year (and its expected to be more this year) just in Silicon Vally.

    >Funded by Jeff Bezos, the new Tessla motor company is bringing an all-electric car on the market.

    >Cities like Phoenix (AZ) are installing trolleys

    >Richard Branson is spending $ 3 Billion over a 10 year period on alternative enrgy research.

    >the new Democratic Congress managed--over loud protests from the right wing--to get a bill through switching to compact fluorescent bulbs by 2012 and raising the average US car mileage for new cars (currently 17 mpg--the same it was 25 years ago) to 25 mpg.

People recognize that global warming s a threat--there is no "if" to it.  The only ones who are not doing anything about it are the right wing.  They are too busy crawling to te  oil companies and whinig they have some sort of "right" to turn the Earth into a sewer so they can pretend to be macho driving their SUVs.

  10. A lot of people are already doing mitigating measures against global warming, though as individuals. In contrast, large companies are making more money from emitting waste/harmful bi-products in the environment rather than by keeping it clean or regulating it, to say the least. And that explains why we don't see much of a difference.

I guess environmental campaigns should also focus on effective education, most importantly in the individual level. Yes, they do promote earth-saving way of life but I don't think it has penetrated the minds of people enough to instigate comprehensive environmental awareness.

  11. It's a natural phenomena and it's not been proven if you believe in other's bulls**T then it's up to you

  12. dont u think other people ask this question? dude u have to read into it alot to understand...

    it costs money

people think that being greenhouse friendly is environmentally friendly

    were lazy

alot im just tired of repeating this.. do some research itll give u different views on how to fix global warming or fix it. u have to stop realying on one source and think for yourself for once. try looking for other people's facts except al gore's. read opinions from people who think global warming is BS then read someone who is strong about global warming... its your opinion from there after you read that...
