i believe in global warming. i am not one of the people who thinks its a scam. there are signs it is in fact going to destroy in the future. but my question is if the government and economy really cared about slowing down the process then why are prices on the items that we consumers can purchase to slow down the process so high? if people were really concerned than why wouldnt these helpful resources to slow down the process be so expensive? i dont understand why that is. how can we as consumers help slow down the process so we and our future generations can stay alive on this wonderful earth if the prices for slowing the process of global warming and helping the einvironment are so high? i simply dont understand. if people really cared, wuold they not be so greedy?

  1. They are still rare and they cost more to make.  People have to make money but they are over pricing things because they know people want to save the enviorment. They aren't saving the enviorment but some of them don't care.  Most people who make sucessful things tend to get a little greedy.

  2. #1 Global Warming is not going to destroy the earth.  It is a gradual process and there will be adverse consequences to some aspects of our current society, but the planet definitely won't be destroyed by even the worst-case scenario's.

#2 The government does not control the prices of things.  Even in communist China, prices are determined by supply and demand, not by a central government.  Government can implement policies that will affect prices somewhat (e.g. oil company tax breaks can have a small affect on what we pay at the pump), but they don't set prices.

  3. Prices are information.  They tell you how much something is needed versus how much of something is available.   They aren't set by greed or government, rather they are set by a complex set of interactions between people, none of whom understand how all of this works.

It's not that prevention is so expensive, rather it's a matter of understanding the information the economy is trying to tell you and how you can communicate back to the economy.

If you are concerned about CO2 emissions then live your life in ways that cuts back on CO2.  Carpool, take the bus, bike, or walk.  Reduce your use of heat and AC.  Spend some of the savings by planting a tree or doing something else good for the environment.

  4. Global warming, while really happening, will not ever destroy the Earth. It is a very subtle problem that you would never have discovered for yourself. The only reason you know about is is because a bunch of scientists have gathered millions of bits of data and made complex calculations and they see a pattern. Al Gore decided we all needed to panic about it and made a movie cleverly designed to make everyone panic, and it did its job. Now everyone is going to give billions of dollars to causes that Al Gore supports. All the while global warming goes on unnoticed, not bothering anyone much at all. And it will just keep doing that for hundreds of years.

  5. It's a catch 22. Everyone still wants to make a buck.

Personally I believe we are already on the decline and all these vain attempts at preservation will only slow things, not stop or reverse them.

The important thing to remember is that global warming is not destroying the earth. It's just destroying people's chances of survival on the earth. The earth will still be here after people have destroyed themselves.

Sure other innocent species are going to die out with mankind, but that's the way nature works.

Over 90% of all the species that ever existed are now extinct.

There will be many new cute and furry animals someday after we're all gone.

I see the guy above me is in denial about global warming.

Actually my geology professor in high school said that the current rise could not be attributed to man...although it is rising.  There is little we can do whether you believe it or not.

Perhaps all these e-friendly products are just supposed to put peoples minds at ease...Like those "duck and cover" drills they had in schools in the 50s in the face of those Atom Bombs. ...y'know as if "Duck and Cover" will save us.

  6. 1)people will always take advantage of a situation to make a buck

    2) fear and guilt are great motivation

    3) the materials are harder to make and harder to get rid of--a spent solar panel, for example, is one of the most toxic things out there

4)and that's only the stuff I can remember off the top of my head

  7. Prices are high because gullible people will pay high prices - that's all there is to it.

There is no need to swallow the fear pill sold by those who hate humanity and feel guilty for existing!

Look, obviously there has never been, in the history of the universe, a planet that hasn't had cycles of heating and cooling.  Given the choice between warming and cooling right now, which would be more beneficial?  Without doubt it is heating!

Cold is the enemy. Cold kills.  Cold keeps crops from being as fruitful as they might be. Cold means more mining and burning fossil fuel, more pollution.

Global warming is not destroying the earth.

Anyway, to answer your question -- yeah...  items that are marketed to people concerned about "global warming" are easy to sell.  Global warming sheep have identified themselves as people who are ashamed of existing, willing to pay anything to fit in with a faddish crowd, and are not too concerned about thinking for themselves.  Given these facts, it is only natural and proper that such products should be very expensive.
