  2. if that was the situation, then it would be called regional warming.

what is it about the word global that you're having trouble with?

  3. global warming affect the world as one and not one area only.places are getting hotter, ice caps and glaciers are melting into slush, snowstorm are appearing when they shouldn't.more droughts and hurricanes.this appear all around the world isn;t it.

  4. no, if global warming affects one area in the world, it doesn't mean that places on the other side will change, unless they too are affected by this terrible problem....a bit confusing but it's logic!!!! ciao ^_^

  5. doubt it

  6. In general, no.  Most everywhere will get hotter (and drier, except at the poles).  Maps of projected temperature and precipitation patterns are in this report.

There are a few wrinkles, and the UK is one.

The UK and Europe are kept several degress warmer than they "should" be by warm North Atlantic ocean currents.  Melting ice on Greenland will dump fresh water into the ocean and might disrupt those currents.

If so, the UK and Europe will get cold enough to cause massive damage to agriculture.

So far, there's no sign that that is happening, and therefore it's not the majority scientific position, which relies on hard data.  That's what's in the report above.  But global warming does not simply mean everything gets a bit warmer, and we're fine.  We're performing a gigantic uncontrolled experiment with our climate.

By the way, I can't believe anyone is still recommending the "swindle" movie, which has been thoroughly refuted.

It is simply a political statement which distorts science.

"The science might be bunkum, the research discredited. But all that counts for Channel 4 is generating controversy."

Gore's movie may be a little over dramatic, but it has the basic science right.  This movie does not.

Channel 4 itself undercuts the movie in a funny way.  If you go to their website on the movie you find links to real global warming information.  They also say "Confused now?  Ask the Expert."  The link for questions goes to a respected mainstream scientist who supports (mostly) human responsibility for global warming.

No one with any knowledge about global warming believes it.

  7. Global warming is a scam do u want to by the Brooklyn bridge??

  8. The climate of the UK is warming and so are most other parts of the Earth. Global warming means the entire globe is warming, basically everything.

  9. Global warming would theoretically make the UK a colder and drier region. The UK has a moderate climate compared to other places on the same latitude e.g. Chicago. Its current climate is moderated by its location on the Atlantic Ocean, which runs on a complex conveyor belt system.  The surface water runs up North up the coast of Africa and brings warm water to the UK. Global warming threatens to slow/stop this conveyor belt system, which might eventually make the UK uninhabitable.
