If global warming is so important why are we being lied to?

To some Churchill residents, who base their opinions on personal experience rather than fancy charts and computer models, this is so much nonsense put about by scaremongers for their own dubious ends.

When outsiders question whether anyone would be so cynical, they are reminded of that now-famous photograph of a polar bear which appears to be teetering precariously on an Arctic ice-floe, melting faster than ice-cream, in the depths of winter.

For a while, it became a powerful symbol of the perils of global warming - until it was revealed to have been taken three years ago and during the height of summer.

You are right.  The Climate Warmologists are very dangerous and fanatical.  They will do anything,  which includes lying and false photographs to prove their points and solicit sympathy.

Climatologists have been fired for voicing their opinion.  The UN scientists who prepared the latest and famous climate report have sued the bureaucrats who took their findings and changed them to propaganda promoting global warming.  This is a scary, fanatical and political (not scientific) movement akin to communists or fascists.

Thank you for thinking.  Wish there were more or you.

To the ignorant people that say global warming is "just a theory," please keep in mind that gravity is also "just a theory," as is evolution, relativity, the cell theory, plate tectonics, and music theory.  Would you like to debate those?

A theory is not simply a guess, or even an educated guess, a theory is a VERY lengthy collection of data, statistics, simulations, mathematical data, the study of history, plus a theory must be testable and must be generally accepted by most credible scientists to become a notable theory.  Please do not confuse the average, every day meaning of the word theory with the true scientific definition.

"spreading lies to spread the truth" is the single most hilarious (and not in a good way) thing I've seen here in a long time.  Leaving science to the liberals, as suggested, is a little like sending Jeffery Dahmer grocery shopping at the day-care center.  When one group thinks they are the only ones that should be allowed to do something, there's probably a little man behind the curtain, a la Wizard of Oz.

--EDIT-- "not going to restrict ourselves to literal reality" is right up there as well.

You and your ilk just don't understand the complexities of Global Warming.

Frequently, I hear people trying to refute Global Warming with evidence.  That is futile. Al Gore would say that record snowfall or that Arctic blast is actually proof of global warming.

You see, when it turned out the worldwide temperature records didn't support the theory of man-made global warming, we changed the term to "climate change". That means, colder or warmer, drier or wetter.

That snowfall or arctic blast you're experiencing is proof that Mother Earth is valiantly trying to restore some equilibrium. She has been relentlessly attacked by human kind, and now she must fight back with all the resources at her disposal: the wind, rain, snowfall, clouds, fog, hurricanes, droughts, etc.

If it snows, it's global warming. If it doesn't snow, it's global warming.

You seem to have some silly, trifling problem with us using misleading photos.  I will explain this to you, slowly.  You see, unlike you narrow minded Conservatives, we're not going to restrict ourselves to literal reality.  We need to make a point, and that point is that Global Warming is real, and a huge problem.  So we're fine with having to occasionally "s*x up" the evidence or the visuals a bit.  You could say we are spreading lies to spread the truth.

I hope you've learned your lesson, Ms. Smarty-Pants Conservative.  Leave science to us Liberals.

More than what you are saying here, is that Global Warming is still a theory, and not proven fact, yet Al Gore "writes" a book about it, acts like it's fact, and scares the tar our of young children who now think they're going to die if they use hairspray, and Mom and Dad don't drive an electric car. So isn't that in itself a lie?

If Global Warming is true, which a scientist on the Fox News channel said began in the 1600's, how is it that man thinks he can change Nature? No one in the 1600's drove automobiles, they drove a horse and buggy, they didn't use hairspray, since there was none, and whatever oil they had was mainly used for their lamps.

Man did not start Global Warming, putting it simply, unless Al Gore and any other government figure is now going to blame the pipe smokers of that time.

Global Warming is the Earth evolving, just like she chose to do when the ice age, and the dark ages began, and man was neither responsible for them, and nor did they stop it.

I find the arrogance of man astounding! What nerve! I think God knows wtf He is doing beyond anything man knows!

All this Global Warming is is a FEAR tactic used by governments to control people....and I don't think it's just because electric cars are outrageously priced, and your electric bill to charge this vehicle will be at least $6000 a month.

the media will always report whatever gives them the best ratings. this is why they always report "Armageddon scenarios" and "global warming con theory's". that's why i don't trust them for scientific facts. i look at studies and journals for that.

Well, a photo is a publicity device.  It's not meant to be taken literally.  Of course a real polar bear is not going to teeter like that.
