say he asks you to do something that you can't do because of a mental illness, how would you address that at your local church?

there's just one simple thing that's keeping me from going back to church.

I don't want to tell the other church people that I'm mentally ill. They don't understand me, because they don't know.

I think that I have the right to keep my illness to myself, but what about God?

  1. Seek medical attention.  Be sure to let them know that God is asking you to do stuff!

  2. God  would  not ask you to do some  thing  you can not  if you feel you can not do it alone  ask some one  to help you.

  3. If I can't do it, then why does he ask me to do it? He know that I won't do it, it's logical.

  4. hmmm

do what you want its YOUR life

and god was god he would understand your illness

  5. most of the people at church are probably suffering from delusions so you shouldn't be the only one.

  6. If they don't know then how can you say that they don't understand you? If you feel that this is personal then maybe it should just be between you and God. People don't have to know how your personal life is. There are boundaries that some people just do not need to cross. Unless you're close to someone, I wouldn't bring it up.

  7. God will not ask you to do some thing he knows you are not able to do by yourself if he ask you to do some thing he will be their to help you do it just trust in him

  8. God never asks us to do what He knows we can't never ever if He asks He is positive we can that is why He asks

  9. According to bible, the omnipotent god has no say-so in what you choose to do.  He defers everything to your freewill

  10. God talks too you ?...

...If you Hear Voices in your head. Maybe you need to seek some more help..

  11. The voices and suggestive thoughts in your head are not God; you are schizotypal or have actually developed full blown schizophrenia.  Do the voices ask you to do strange things and offer you rewards for doing them?  Do they urge you to act upon your thoughts?  At some point you may find that certain thoughts have an underlying implication of suicide.

Make an appointment with a psychiatrist at your first possible convenience - there's no shame in asking for help.

  12. Worship from home if you must.  I knew some very devout and holy muslims in the Middle East who were unable to go to the mosque to pray for one reason or another (age, illness), and so did their prayer at home.

Set up a holy space for your religion and keep it nice and separate from your other things, so as to retain the otherworldly dignity.  Spend some time there praying and keeping in touch with God.

Or, return to the church and talk to the pastor/priest/father leading the ceremony, and ask him what he feels is the best way to handle your situation.  People in that position encounter situations like yours more often than you think, and will probably be able to make a solution for you.
