  1. whatever you are interested in. you have to be interested in the subject matter in order to do the work and then to find a career for the next 30 years. if you aren't interested in it you will not enjoy it. and, passion is key to success. so find something that you are passionate about.

  2. I went back after being out of school for 10 years and majored in English because it was one subject I knew I could not not fail. I had already taken a year at a different 4-year university and had four failed classes, I was not going to do so again. The second time around I made the dean's list and played in the marching band and did great. I haven't done anything great with my degree yet but I am grateful for the experiences I had in college. Now I am deferring all those student loans by continuing in Landscape Horticulture at a neat small community college while I have been unemployed and a stay-at-home mom, but my plan is to write for a gardening magazine and have my own herb farm and greenhouses. Now I just need to talk to the right people to get started on the writing career...

  3. I went to college mid/late 20's. A first I was majoring in Biotechnology/Microbiology for forensics, but that had way too much math in it - me and math, we do not get along!!!

Now, I am going for psychology and I love it!!! So many things and directions you can go!!

  4. english & history combined.

  5. I did my degree in my early twenties, and I chose to do a Bachelor of Education because I knew I would be able to get a job in that field and because I liked kids, but teaching was never my dream or my passion. After I finished my degree, I taught for less than a year. I hated it.

If I was to go back to school now, or go back and do things over again, I would choose to do a degree in a field I was passionate about, not a field that had good job potential. For me, that would be a degree in English, Communications, Psychology, or Computer Science.

I have been a technical writer for more than a decade, and those degrees, other than Psychology, would have helped me in this field. I also might have chosen to go into journalism. If I had done a Psychology degree, I probably would have continued on to do a Masters and possibly a Doctorate.

Whatever you do, I think you should choose something you are passionate about. Whatever it is, if you love it and are good at it, you will figure out a way to make a career or it.
