  1. Almost every country requires that you have six months remaining on your passport after your return date.  In other words, if you would be returning Sept 1, they your passport should not outdate until March2 or after.  Get a new passport.

  2. Travelled to spain two years ago. My wifes passport only had four months only and she was refused at the airport. she missed three days of our two weeks holiday and cost over one hundred pounds to replace quickly...

  3. Your in luck. I had this worry myself just recently and contacted the UK passport office who told me to contact the Spanish Embassy. Their e-mail (Spanish Embassy) is below if you want to check for yourself.

I am holidaying in Spain 1st Aug to 15 Aug 08 and my passport expires 14 Oct 08 (less than 3 months from travel date) and I had heared that you need 3 or 6 months remaining on your passport to travel. However the Spanish Embassy have said that as long as my passport is valid for the entirety of my stay there (which in my case it is) there is no problem with holidaying in Spain in August 08, so the 3 - 6 months thing is just nonsense,

Each Country is different though, so don't just apply this to any other Country without checking with their Embassy or you may risk holidaying at the airport.

  4. If you are a British citizen I can guarantee you that all you need is your passport to be valid for the length of your stay, as a travel rep I've been many, many times, once with only a month left, so don't worry about it.

  5. It needs six months if youre in the UK

  6. Not a problem at all. Spain and the UK are both members of the EU, so you have an absolute right to live or move between them regardless of the period that your passport remains valid.

You can, of course, always go over to the British consulate and renew it there, if you feel a need to do so. It costs about double the price of a UK renewal but is much faster and usually easier, because you can present it in person.

Now if you were travelling to a non-EU/EAA country, then you might find some countries do specify a minimum duration of 6 months before allowing entry, but such limitations are not allowed in the EU, where even a driving licence with a picture is valid identification.

  7. Please call the Spanish consulate in New York City or check out their web site. Never leave the country unless you are absolutely sure of your status.
