  1. Higher taxes can be a good thing if the economy isn't in shambles. Look at what our economic status was in the 90s under Clinton, and back then, we were all doing really well financially. Lower taxes sounds good, but it only works out for the extremely wealthy. We need our tax money to go to things like schools, roads, health care, and infrastructure instead of a pointless war in Iraq.

  2. Proof?

  3. thats not a good analysis. If you take Orange co. NC and Alamance Co. NC and compare , Orange county has a significantly higher tax rate and the utilities  are higher than Alamance as well. Both counties ar equal in total population, but Orange has a higher crime rate, while also boasting a larger university.

Bad government happens on all levels.  When people learn they can get their hands on the public cofferes, the end is soon to appear.

But to simply answer your question, yes, higher taxes are bad. it takes from the segment of society that works and earns to give to those who do not.

  4. Obama 08

Of course we should have higher taxes for the wealthy. The states that have the highest taxes are the states with the happiest people. Sweeden pays seventy percent of their income to the governemnt and they are ranked the happiest country in the world.

  5. You should check Michigan.  Higher taxes was democrat Jennifer Granholms Idea to balance the budget here worked great, The manufacturing base is leaving, The single business tax is going to leave just that "a single business" and Her road taxes have left a deficit.  So tell me how higher taxes helped Mich?  Ps I live here we were fine until Clinton signed NAFTA then Granholm taxed the business out of Michigan.  Yeah the dems do a great job.

Economics 101 higher taxes produce less revenue. This has been proven too many times.

  6. That's not really true.  Look at Morris County, New Jersey.  Compared to the rest of the state, parts of Morris County have low taxes and it has great quality of life.  There are regions with high taxes and great quality of life, but there's no direct equation that makes high taxes equal good quality of life.

  7. Well first you need to define quality of life.

I mean its partially true but it does depend on what your valuing.

Also people who can pay higher taxes can afford a higher quality of living.

  8. Who has a better quality of life living pay to pay, and still not always

making payments on time, or not having full payments all the time. They may be a good thing if the schools actually got their fair share all the way down to our children, not just the adminstrators. An then every where you go for help or loans they ask for your gross pay,i do not know about you but i know i do not live on my gross!!!!

  9. I agree I live in a suburb that has the highest taxes in the metro area and snow blowing, police, fire, parks, and roadsides stick out with the other suburbs.

  10. because most of those areas also have higher incomes!

  11. Which came first? The higher quality of life (i.e. business) preceeded the high taxes; it did not occur because of high taxes. Without the revenue from big business and high incomes, you can't have high taxes. Duh.

Say, the city of Detroit has higher local taxes than anywhere in Michigan, too. Are you saying that Detroit is the best spot in Michigan for quality of life?

  12. whatever, if u would like to donate some extra, i am sure they will take it. that is the problem with u liberals, you want to solve all the problems by taking everyone elses money and giving it to politicians who waste it.
