  1. Yes, I want to wear hijab. I am a naturally modest person, and I never wear shorts and I almost always wear long sleeve shirts (even when it's blistering hot outside). I feel SO uncomfortable wearing regular swimsuits that show so much of the body that I just don't go swimming anymore. I recently found some web sites that carry modest swim wear for women, and I am probably going to order one very soon.

The funny thing is that I am the only woman in my family who feels this way. My mother and grandma are very "modern" women and my grandma was wearing shorts in the 1930's when being that immodest could get you run out of town on a rail. My mother still doesn't know how I turned out to be so conservative, when I was raised to be so liberal. I AM Pagan, but that is a path I found on my own and one that I mixed with my own personal beliefs in Jesus, which do not necessarily match those of most churches.

I do like the way hijab looks, especially since seeing my hair or any other woman's long hair uncovered causes me to feel uncomfortable. It just feels too intimate to be showing it. Head scarves certainly can be stylish, and there are some really gorgeous scarves out there to choose from.

I think my husband sees the writing on the wall about me wanting to wear hijab and keeps kidding me by offering to order me a burka. He of course realizes that I'm not that extreme about wanting to be covered, but my 9 year old daughter recently asked him if he'd buy her a burka. Since, he could tell she was serious, his answer was a firm "No!"

My daughter doesn't want the burka in order to cover herself but more to get a reaction out of her father. He knows she would wear it, too, just to see him get flustered, lol. She's got his sense of humor!

Thank you for asking this question. I was seriously starting to think that I might be the only non-Muslim woman who wanted to wear hijab. It sort of eases my mind. :)

  2. I would love to... I don't wear one now due to all the questions. But if and when (enshallah) I can pass this, I would wear one.

I think they look so elegant. I love the way they bring out a woman's eyes. Most of all...

I like the meaning behind it. Women who wear the hajab in the most part, are treated with such honor and respect. Though on the other side, becuase of the way the world is, some people are just plain ignorant and pick on those who wear one.

  3. No more than I'd want to wear a fishbowl on my head.

Seriously, it looks like it'd be too hot and I'd have to be fussing with it all the time, and the main significance of it is to keep a woman's hair her hidden beauty. Which is nice and all, but it's just hair.

  4. Well, my Christian and Jewish wear their own version of the hijab. They wear dresses and skirts only, without makeup or jewerally and cover their heads/hair.In fact, Mohammad got that idea from the Christians and Jews.

Personally, my "hijab" is a white hanging veil and I wear oit because of 1 Cor 11.Heres a photo of what it looks like:http://www.beachyam.org/yfm09.jpg

Its comfy to wear, but has been blown off on windy days.I once had a nasty incident, were girls harassed me at uni toilets and in between the swearing, told me I looked like a nun.

I think the Muslim hijab would be lovely to wear.

  5. I want to wear it anyway, I like how it looks and I'm born a citizen of a free country so I wear what

EVER I want w/o respect to what you may think it is associated with!

  6. No way.

It makes one look like a bag of potatoes.

Shapeless and uncomfortable ..the heat of Florida summer would kill me faster, then anything else, wearing it.

I know muslimas who wear it and......

    Well, ain´t fun

  7. No.

    It's not a flattering garment.

My bath robe is about as mis-shapen as a hi-jab and I wouldn't wear that outside.

    Same concept.

I wear clothes that I like, I don't see anything to like in the hi-jab.

    Unless I hadn't washed my hair.  ;-)

  8. Only if I were dressing up as a ghost for Halloween maybe.

  9. No.

Personally, I don't think it's my responsibility to prevent male lust.

It's their responsibility to deal with it.

(But, I don't have a problem with anyone else wearing it.)

  10. no

  11. yes i  guess  its  alright  .  but  people  should  be  able  to  wear  it  out  of  choice  and  not  out  of  obligation  or  religious/communal   pressures  .but  again ,  i  doubt  if  anyone  would  want to  really  wear  it  unless one  is  a  devout    believer . but  most  girls    grow up believing that  they  must  wear  it ...

so  i  think ther  isnt a problem  unless  an  individual  feels otherwise .

personally i  think  a  society  which  promotes individualism  is  the  most  progressive  society  .

  12. no i think it looks old lady-ish and probably makes your head hot in the summer.

  13. Nuns, orthodox Jews and other faiths and traditions in countries where it without it being associated with Islam.
