  1. depends on the brand and style

I have 2 window ACs that put out 55* air

  2. Measure the air that is going into your filter and the air that is coming directly out of your vents. The difference in these measurements is called your split and should be between 15-20 degrees.Out of this parameter range, over or under, something is wrong.

  3. 48

  4. Plumber Rock is correct.

Your leaving (cool air) should be cooled to about 18 to 20 degrees below the entering air to the A/C.

So if the machine is running and the air entering is 78 the leaving should be 58.That's a Delta T of 20 degrees.

As the room cools off the entering air will be cooler so subtract the leaving air from the entering air temp and see if it is the (rule of thumb) 20 degree drop.  Think.... if your unit is a window unit with Hi med and low fan speed then the slower speed will let the air linger in the cooling coil longer causing a greater temp drop...but even though it is colder it doesn't have the cubic feet per minute of air as a higher speed. High speed is still best if your Delta T is still in the 18 to 20 degree range.

  5. If everything is working correctly, you should get 18 to 22 degrees of temperature drop. A larger drop in temp, and you are not moving enough air. A lower temp drop, and you are getting too much air across the coil.
