If humans are NOT animals...?

...then why do we have so many similarities?

I am not saying that we are, but it irritates me when people are so sure about something they haven't even taken the time to look in to.

We eat, drink, have s*x, p**p, pee, sleep and we have many of the same organs. We can get similar diseases, have babies and feel emotion.

  1. The only difference is the soul. Yes, we might be similar to animals in some ways, but we have a soul and they don't.

  2. Because they like looking at it more like humans are very very important. So important that animals emotions take a back seat. They're feelings aren't worth considering to most; it's just downright silly to talk about it. They are our dinner, not our friends.

  3. -Unlike bacteria, all animals are eukaryotic and multicellular.

-Unlike plants, all animals digest food in an internal chamber and are mobile, if only at certain stages of their lives.

-Unlike fungi, all animal cells lack a cell wall.

Human beings have eukaryotic cells that lack a cell wall. We are multicellular, and we depend on other living things for our sustenance by digesting parts of those organisms in internal digestive chambers. How are we not animals?

  4. Just because some scientist put us in the same class of animal as apes and other primates...does not make it accurate.

You also have the ability of reason. you have a conscience. You know good from evil....no animal has these qualities.

You can call apes family if you want.... See if the airlines will let you bring family along for the trip....

  5. We are.....humans are mammals.  Animals are mammals.

  6. We ARE animals. People just tend to pretend they're not, because they want to feel superior

  7. We are animals, mammals, primates.

  8. so we have many similarities...many differences too.

  9. This is really just a matter of semantics.  Humans very clearly are animals in the scientific sense of the word. There is simply no possible argument about that. But colloquially, the word 'animal' is used to refer only to non-human animals.  Obviously it's useful in many contexts to make a distinction between ourselves and other animals.

  10. Animals feel pain, animals suffer, animals grieve.  Only ignorant religious fundies try to pretend it is otherwise.

Mainly because they like to believe their imaginary friend gave them dominion over the rest of the animal kingdom.  It's an insecurity issue imo.

  11. Of course we are animals. Human beings share 96% of the same exact DNA as apes, and a surprising percentage with other animals. Analysis reveals that 650 million base pairs of DNA are shared between dog and humans

  12. Our body is that of a mammal. I believe in evolution. But I also think that there is something higher than just our material world. I believe that it is us (spirits) that animate these bodies and create this world.

  13. No, we're actually a type of squash.

    :p

  14. What makes you different than your dog? The primary difference is in awareness. You have a spirit that is connected to God...whether you think it is or not.

I am no inventor, but if I were and was trying to design a new being that I would make more special than all the rest, I would look at what I had already made and take what obviously worked well and simply add to it. It is like building a new car. You don't have to do a completely new design of every bolt and every tire in order to create something new.

  15. Why do boats have so many similarities to fish?

Why do airplanes have so many similarities to birds?

Is it because of a common ancestor?  Or just common design, building on things that already work?

Animals were not created in the image of God, humans were.

Animals do not have an eternal spirit, humans do.

I have a soul, but if all you can do is compare the physical side of our existence, then perhaps you have already lost yours.  You go right ahead and live like the animals - just remember - we put animals in cages!

  16. We are smarter 'animals'.  Just because two things are similar doesn't make them the same. That's all.

  17. Humans are animals in every way.  That is why they do blood transfusions between us and we trade organs, etc

  18. The Theory Of Evolution Is Not A Fact;It Has Not Been Proven And Cannot Be Replicated In A Laboratory. Scientist Discovered That Two Almsot Identical Species Of Fruit Flies Have Only 25% of Their DNA In Common.Similarities Are Realated To An Intelligent Designer (GOD) Who Designed(Created) Different Organisms With Similar Design. It Is Impossible For Animals To Evolve.Science Books Have Been Telling Us For Years That All Humans Are 99.95 Identical And It Is Commonly Said That Humans Share 98-99% Of Their DNA With Chimpanzees. Now We Find The Claims Were Fabricated Lies.

  19. We share over 95% of our DNA with apes. Does that tell you something ? It's close to 98%

  20. yeah I can be an animal alright, some think that being able to speak sets them apart, to an extent it does, our ability to think the way we do probably puts us at the top of the food chain, but animals we are. When it comes to survival or protection of loved ones we are no different
