  1. Probably...history tends to repeat itself, particularly when religion is concerned.

  2. If Gustav does hit New Orleans, and it's God's fault, I guess it proves that God really does hate poor black people

  3. Of course they will. They have to figure he didn't "git er done" the first time, so he's going back for seconds.

I wonder if all the liquor stores have been restocked yet? (Rhetorical question)

  4. no

It would only be God's punishment if only the wicked suffered and not the righteous.

  5. maybe its just very very ironic.

...Or maybe just global warming... hmm.

  6. Unfortunately yes.  I live in Northwest Louisiana and have heard people talk about it.  Hurricanes have not been frequent to New Orleans so they are really disturbed about this coming again only after 3 years.  They are sadly mistaken.  My church is preparing already to provide relief and recovery efforts in South Louisiana if and when it is needed.  We need to pray for everyone in the gulf region.  This could be a vary dangerous storm.  Louisiana may need to evacuate up to 1 million people if the storm his in the central part of the state with cat 3 or more force.

  7. I think maybe "god" is trying to tell the GOP something as the storm is coming during their convention.  (If the storm came during a g*y parade, we would all assume it was a message from god, wouldn't we???)

God is punishing the republican state of Mississippi, Trent Lot and that ilk.  Another punishment will come soon if Mississippi doesn't repent of its Republican ways!  I was down there last summer and noticed the Southern Baptist Church in Gulfport is flat.

YEP!  god is sending a very clear message and someone, not the g**s and lesbians, is not listening.  (Did you know that the Southern Baptist Convention was being held in New Orleans when Katrina hit?  The GOP Convention is being held when Gustav hits?  It is truly an act of God and She is saying, "Ditch your hypocritical and self righteous ways or you will be washed up!!)

Maybe god just hates conventions just as he hated the committee that tried to build the tower of babel, ya think?

  8. yes.

  9. "Fundamentalists" is an extremely broad term and a huge demographic..........so no doubt there will be a FEW who make such a claim.  But such views have NEVER been in any way typical of "fundamentalist" views.  They simply make "good press"...........so all it takes is just ONE to make a good story in the news.

GENUINE "fundamentalists" believe that it is OUTRAGEOUS and PRESUMPTUOUS for any human to try to speak for God and say WHY God does any particular thing of that sort.  (It is also rather "prideful" to say that least.........and that is why MILLIONS of fundamentalists are probably quite embarrassed when such statements appear in the press.......because it has nothing to do with their own personal views.)

Such press reports do not provide a meaningful description of the views of most fundamentalists any more than the ravings of various crackpot "atheists" (for example) represent the views of most atheists.

Keep in mind that BECAUSE it is so easy to manipulate the media, some people who call themselves fundamentalists find such statements an easy way to get attention and therefore additional influence in our society.

    {Incidentally, I do NOT consider myself a "fundamentalist". Indeed, this forum very often uses the term as if it is a synonym for "Christian" or "Evangelical" ......and that leads to all sorts of idiotic statements.}

  10. I guess, but what else is new?

  11. Not the religious fundamentalists who live in New Orleans.  I'm sure others in various parts of the country will, though.
