Question:

If hydrocodone always makes me throw up, does that mean I'm allergic?

Or do I just have a weak stomach?

I am going in for some minor surgery, and I want to tell them that it always makes me sick and I don't want a prescription for it.

Anything I could ask for that WON'T make my stomach really really sick but still controls moderate pain?

Thanks!

  1. duh

  2. This could just be a side effect of the pill. Read what the side effects are on the paper they gave you that came in the bag with yours pills.

Codone is a very strong pill. Ask them to give you something diffrent if it is to bad.

    Hope this helps Madam\Sir!

  3. Yes. That is the definition of "allergic."

    Try asking for morphine.

  4. Ask for Tylenol three. You might just have a weak stomach and maybe the dose is just too much for you. Your best bet might just be to skip the prescription and take three ibuprofen yourself (600 mg).

  5. Try eating or take it with milk, It can upset your stomach but that doesnt mean your allergic

    Good luck with your surgery

  6. No, that isn't an allergic reaction, not even close.  An allergic reaction is defined as an inappropriate immune response to something.  Throwing up is not an immune response.  Just ask for something other then vicodin or anything opiate derived.

  7. If it's causing you to throw up, yes, I would think somethign doesn't match up and that vomiting WOULD be an allergic reaction.
