  1. yes

  2. there last name of course should be yours.  But it would depend n how old they are with changing the childs first name.  getting adopted for them maybe a good thing but to them it still might be sometime that has taken forever and NOW they have change there first name..?

if they are old enough talk them about it..

  3. If you adopt the child, you can legally do anything you want to.  I'd want my child's name changed, too.  If they're young enough, they'll never know...if they're older, I'm sure they'd find it fun to change their name.

Suggestion:  A friend adopted a little girl after her mother was killed in a car wreck.  She is autistic.  Her name was Dakota.  She was in preschool, and there was a little boy in the class with the same name.  Her new mom changed her name to Dakota Rose.  (Last name changed, too, of course.)  She still had her same first name, she just dropped her middle name and implemented Rose into everything!  The little girl never missed a beat in responding to her name...she just had a prettier one.  The school wanted them to call her by her middle name, which was way too confusing for the little darlin'.  The new name change flowed as easy as 1 2 3.  It was different, but not so drastic.

Congrats on your adoption.  I wish you all the luck!  God's blessings on you and yours...Always!
