  1. Regular steelshaft. Definitely NOT stiff.

  2. A lot of shaft type should be based on Club head speed and overall playing skill. Looking at a 9 handicap, you got some skill. Best suggestion is go see a professional to get fitted for clubs. He will video tape you taking swings with different clubs. He will measure club head speed, incline angle among other things. Based on the video he will be able to set you up with custom recommendations. Most pro-shops charge between $50-100 for this and many will waive the fee if they order/build clubs for you.  My suggestion would be either regular or stiff.

  3. What club are we talking about?  If woods, then go graphite.  It irons, go steel.  As for flex, that depends on your swing speed.  If you have a fast swing, probably stiff.  Any good golf shop can put you on a swing monitor and tell you the answer.

  4. If you are a 9  handicap you should know.

  5. Get fitted for either stiff or regular.

  6. your handicap has nothing to do with what shaft you want.  I play with a 75 year old guy who has a swing speed of about 70 mph (very slow) and could use a wet noodle for a shaft.  You first need to find out your swing speed. I will say this though, most people "WANT" a stiff shaft and dont need one.

  7. It depends on Swing Speed, tempo, how you load the shaft, your spin rate, etc. Go to a pro to get fitted for the shaft that is correct for you.
