If i am going on a road trip from Los Angeles to Seattle....?

what kinds of things should i take with me in the car? Also how much money would be a good amount to take? If im going to seattle and back.

First, pick your route. If you take I-5 all the way, it is about 1200 miles and boring, especially through the San Joaquin Valley in central CA. If you take Hwy 1 or the 101 or 99, study each route carefully. Make sure you know where to stop for fuel. It will be more pricey off the beaten path. Hint: when you get to half a tank, fill up. Stop every couple of hours just to get out and stretch. Second give yourself plenty of time to do it and only drive during the daytime. If you get 25 mpg, plan on spending about 425.00 for fuel one way. Most of I-5 is 2 lanes each way north past the Grapevine and with truck traffic, you won't be able to use cruise control very much. Be ready for wet roads in OR and WA as they actually get rain there. Even if you take food with you, pull over to eat. Make sure you have plenty of water in 20 oz bottles. Gets very warm all the way up to Redding. If you feel tired, get off the road. Lastly, make sure your vehicle is in good shape with a recent oil change. If you don't have it already, membership in the Auto Club would be a very good investment. Keep the cell phone charged but off and out of reach. If you need to make a call, pull off the road and stop - it's the law. If you break down, get as far off the roadway as possible and stay with the vehicle. CHP will be along shortly. Lastly, make sure someone knows where you're going, how to get in touch and when you expect to be back.

I drove to seattle before by myself. it takes you up to 20 hours if you drive straight.its over a 1000 miles. If you mean money for gas I would think $400 for both ways. I like to take food and drinks with me. I usually drink energy drink when i get tired while driving. have fun in seattle.
