Does late mean, past the due date, or past the cancellation date?  If it's past the due date, was it also past the cancellation date?

If it's past the cancellation date, it's lapsed.  The cancellation date is the date it's cancelled.

It really depends on your insurance company and your State mandates that govern the cancellation of your policy for non-payment of premium.  Depending on how long you have had the policy, number of monthly payments already made, how many left, etc.

Best thing to do is call your agent the first thing in the morning and ask them.  Sometimes they can take your bank card info over the phone.
