If i am traveling to mexico by car with my newborn and she is a us citizen does she need her passport

her passport is still in process but i need to travel now what else can i use instead or do i absolutely need a passport

  1. Passports are not needed for LAND travel to Mexico until June1, 2009...but right now adults need their birth certificate and a photo I.D.  Children, including newborns must have their birth certificates.  If the baby's other parent is not travelling with you, you will need a signed, notarized letter of permission from that parent to take the baby out of the U.S. and into Mexico.  See 2nd site below and read section on minors under 'Entry Requirements."


  2. No she doesnt... just MAKE SURE she had her birth certificate and social security card... and she's good to go!
