  1. It can work for you or against you. I was an explorer with the CHP for 6 years, during that time i met tons of officers and brass, i went to the academy in sacramento for a week and i went on tons of ride-a-longs. When i started applying for non law enforcement jobs i landed each one, every employer will be so impressed that you were an explorer and they will be more willing to trust you because you have discipline. Now when you go apply with a police department they will contact your explorer advisers and you better hope they have plenty of good things to say about you, because if you don't then its your word against theirs, but that rarely happens. Just make sure that if you become an explorer you don't become over involved, still go out and party, just don't be stupid, they want to hire people with life experience. I know some people who didn't get hired because they were too stuck on trying to be a cop instead of being their age and just having fun. So to sum things up, you will have a heads up as an explorer, just make sure you use the time as an explorer wisely. Good luck

  2. Well i myself am in POST 1036 sacramento county. And it does count as Volunteer hours if you go to the events that they announce like security for certain events and what not. And when you sign up just gto to meeting and role play problems and CPR and learn about police vehicles and procedures, report writing, and codes.

And about employment it doesnt really help only when it comes down to the academy part because you already have some kind of idea what is to be expected and to do.

    Keep your head
