  1. Bending an iron has a very big effect on your ball flight and your swing. Hopefully the reason you're bending your irons is because you got your swing professionally analyzed and you were told this was important. Bending an iron from standard lie means you either have a swing slightly more upright than normal or slightly flatter than normal. If you're a person of average height this isn't quite the normal thing to do. It's normally better to practice a swing that isn't forced. I'll assume the adjustment is necessary.

A flatter swing produces a lower, more piercing ball flight, with less spin. It also tends to draw the ball. A more upright swing tends to strike down and into the ball, using the angle of the clubface to produce more spin on the ball which causes a higher trajectory. An upright swing path is more likely to fade.

The point of bending a clubface is to ensure the whole bottom of the club strikes the ground at impact. The change should be made to the club is the player has grooved a swing that is on a more upright or flatter swing than the lie of their club. If the player doesn't have a swing set in stone, it's better to work on the player than change the club.

  2. Assuming you are changing the lie angle it will change your ball flight and probably the distance you hit each iron. By changing my irons to a more upright lie(2 degrees upright versus flat) I gained about 5 yards per club and also was more likely to hit a draw. The two are related.  So yes it will affect your ball flight and distance.

  3. Yes the effect will be that they are two degrees different than they were before you bent them.

  4. If you bend your clubs they are done.  You will never be able to hit them right ever again. The only thing you could do is take them to a golf shop and see it they can fix them. Probably will have to get the bent ones reshafted.

  5. It will change your ball flight.
