  1. The Sony VX1000 is a miniDV tape based camcorder. ALL miniDV tape based camcorders transfer using firewire.

    Your computer needs a firewire400 port. You will transfer the video using a firewire (IEEE13094a, i.Link - all the same thing) cable connecting the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire port on your computer. USB will not work.

    See page 72 for the location of the DV port. The camcorder's DV port is a 4-pin firewire. Whether the cable's other end is 4-pin or 6-pin depends on what firewire 400 port is on your computer.
