depending on how you edit it and what sort of computer system you will need as a minimum:

firewire lead

firewire card for your computer

movie maker of pc.

other items that may be useful

external mic (if available)

external hard drive running at a minimum of 5400 rpm

additional SD cards

No you don't. The usb cable,ac adapter, av cable, remote control, battery and battery charger will come with it. Aditionnally i really recommended getting a tripod and if you get good with it, this camera is compatible with a lot of sifferent lens and filters.

I personnally don't like the software bundled with it. I simply copy mpeg files to my hard drive and edit them with autogk and virtualdub.
