If you have the $$, you can do anything!

  2. Question:  if i buy a MP5, can i convert it to 10mm?

    Answer:  Quick answer is: NO.

Second question:  '...is it legal to convert a gun so that it fires a different caliber of bullet...'

Answer:  YES.  It is NOT illegal to do caliber conversions.  The real question is:  Is a particular caliber conversion practical or even possible?  Example:  Can a 9mm practically be converted to 10mm?  The answer is:  NO.  Colt & S&W learned very quickly that even the .45 acp platform, when converted to 10mm would self-destruct rather rapidly because the 10mm is much more intense than even the .45 acp.  Glock did it right.  They built their Model 20 10mm from the ground up, designing a pistol that would stand up to the beating of the 10mm and also offering the same platform in .45 acp.

    Hope that helped.

  3. i have a AR-15 in a .223 and .308.. the two guns are totally didferent!!! the ..308 is bigger by about 8 inches!!! if you did that the pressure would probley rip the gun apart.

  4. KCX is wrong, it will cost you 2 arms, 3 legs and your 1st born.

If 10mm was a viable round for the weapon, someone would have made it.

  5. The MP5 was made in 10mm.   A "real" MP5 is full auto/select fire, very expensive and you have to go through a complex procedure to get one, if they're even legal in your state.

HK made a semi-auto civilian version of the MP5 called the SP89, also available in 10mm.   Our friend Bill Clinton included it in his 1993 assault weapon ban, so now you have to buy a pre-ban gun for $3000+.

There are some MP5/SP89 semi-auto clones of varying quality out there floating around.

It is legal to covert guns to different calibers, however it is illegal for a civilian to possess a machine gun made after May, 1986.   Some caliber conversions would require extensive modification and might be deemed "manufacture".

  6. I think that the MP5 only comes in 9mm,You can ask a gunsmith to do it for you and if it is possible it will cost you a arm and a leg.
